Global Setup Menu

I have the new Uniden Dect1480-5C cordless phones.I am hearing a slight hiss in the background during calls. Is there a setting that will cure this? Under Global Setup Menu there is an option to change the Line Mode setting. The options are OFF, TYPE-A or TYPE-B. What should this be set at? It says on the phone menu: Do Not change this setting unless instructed by customer service. Currently the Line Mode is set to OFF. Please help!

SOURCE: How to set up Speed Dial on a Uniden phone?

My Mom had this same problem.   I found these instructions on Uniden's website (uniden.com) under the "Owner Manuel" section.

Here you go - good luck!

Using the Speed Dial Memory
Storing Numbers in Speed Dial Memory
Your cordless phone can store up to ten numbers (up to 20 digits each) in the speed dial
memory. To store number in memory:
1) When the phone is in standby, press [memory]. The talk/batt low LED flashes.
2) Use the keypad to enter the phone number.
(To enter a 2-second pause between numbers, press [redial/
pause]. Each pause counts as a digit. )
3) Press [memory] again.
4) Select the speed dial location where you would like to store the
number ( [0] to [9] ). You will hear a confirmation tone indicating
that the number has been stored.
NOTE:
• Storing a number to a speed dial location will
overwrite the any previously stored number without
warning.
• When storing numbers into memory and the handset is idle (i.e., no key is
pressed) for more than 0 seconds, it will beep rapidly, and then the phone
will return to standby.
Dialing a Stored Number
1) When the phone is in standby, press [talk], and listen for a dial tone.
2) Press [memory] and enter the speed dial entry ([0] – [9]) that has the stored number
you want to dial. (If you enter a digit that does not contain a stored number, the
handset will beep rapidly, and the phone will not dial.)
Chain Dialing
The speed dial memory is not limited to phone numbers. You can store any number (up
to 20 digits) that you need to enter once your call connects. This is referred to as Chain
Dialing. An example is a frequently refilled prescription number. Store your pharmacy
phone number in one speed dial and your most frequently refilled prescription number
as another speed dial. To use, once you ring your pharmacy's automated prescription
line, simply press [memory] and the speed dial number where you stored your account
number.
Erasing a Stored Number from Memory
1) With the phone in standby, press [memory] twice.
2) Press the number of the speed dial entry. A tone indicates that the stored number is
erased from memory.

SOURCE: uniden 5.8Ghz phone.

You need to reset the main base unit. Unplug the power from the back of the base. While the power is disconnected, press and hold the delete key while reconnecting the power. Wait for a long beep tone. When the display shows 88 or P, press play button one time. If you have a phone without an answering machine, disconnect the power from the back of the base, press and hold find hs button while reconnecting power.

When the "check phone line" message appears, it is referring to telephone service and not the wire. It appears that your phone jack is "dead" or that there is no working service in the home. Do you have another phone that you can use to check the jack? Is there another jack that you can plug the phone into for a test?

My att cellphone only rings 4 times before voicemail

If the problem is with an AT&T cellphone you will need to call them or go log in online to change that feature, however if it is with a Uniden Cordless Phone (the product this question is linked to) the directions below found in their manual should help:

Uniden Cordless Phone
From the base
1) Press [clock/menu] three times. The base displays the current number of rings (2, 4, 6, or TS for toll saver) and announces the setting.
2) Press [>>/select] or [<</select] until the desired ring time appears.
3) Press [set]. A confirmation tone sounds, and the answering machine announces the new ring time.

From the handset
1) Press the MENU soft key. Select the ANSW. SETUP menu, and then the RING TIME submenu.
2) Move the cursor to select a Ring Time (2 TIMES, 4 TIMES, 6 TIMES or TOLL SAVER).
3) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Hope this is of help

If you ever need to change the dial mode back to pulse dialing, follow the same procedure, but select Pulse in step 3

Not showing the area code when people call

If they're calling from the same area code that's set in your "Global Setup", then the area code won't show.

Where I live, you have to dial the area to call them back, so I set our area code in the phone's Global Setup to 000.

That worked and now I can scroll through caller ID, see the whole 10-digit number, and return all calls (w/area code) with no problem.

Hope that helps!

Same frustrating issue

press "menu", "global setup", "dial mode", choose "pulse".
I dont know why it works, but it does!

the tiny indent under the "DECT 6.0" decal is the microphone- check to clean any crumbs/gunk from that crevice.

My cordless is set up to rotary and i want it to be touch tone

This question is very Generic!

There are alot of 5.8 GHz phones by Uniden, and each is different.
Try this to fix your issue:

Press [menu/clear]. Select the GLOBAL SETUP menu, and then the
DIAL MODE submenu.
Scroll [ ] to select TONE.
Press [select/ ]. You will hear a confirmation tone.

If this does not help, try this link, look for your set, and on the right side near the middle of the screen there is a link for Owners Manual English PFD, open it and search for PULSE.
