HP Photosmart Premium C309A All-In-One Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 09, 2010

My couple month old 309a hp photosmart premium printer keeps coming up with ink jet failure. How can that be? I checked the cartridges and they look find to me. Every so often it will let something be printed and then does this again. Very frustrating for a new printer to act this way.

Ink jet failure or ink system failure? I see the ink system failure often. If the cartridges are ok and properly inserted (check for clogs in the vents that can be cleared with a pin just in case), the printhead may be the problem. First remove the cartridges, lift the latch handle on the right and lift the printhead straight up to remove it. Clean the ramps on the side of the ink nozzles, the edge between the ink nozzles and the electrical contacts and the electrical contacts. Do not touch the contacts with your hands/fingers. To do the cleaning you need several lint free cloths or papers and distilled or bottled water. Dampen a cloth and wipe the electrical contacts from bottom to top; do not go past the edge between the contacts and the nozzles. Repeat until no ink remains on the contacts. Use another dampened cloth to clean the edge between the contacts and the nozzles. Wipe from right to left; repeat until there is no ink left on the edge. Finally wipe the ramps with another dampened cloth wiping "downhill" away from the ink nozzles until there is no ink left. Dry the areas with another cloth.

Then clean the electrical contacts inside the printer with another dampened cloth going from top to bottom. Then dry the area with a dry cloth. Return the printhead to the printer and lower the latch handle. Replace the ink cartridges and close the access door.

Reset the printer by turning it on and unplugging it from the wall outlet for at least 15 seconds before plugging it back in. Press the power button to turn on the unit if needed. (This should clear the error message.)

If the error persists, a new printhead may be required. Try the automatic printhead cleaning utility (part of the full software) at least twice before cleaning the printhead.

I hope this helps.

It could be a problem with settings or installation of your printer. We would suggest you to check on settings.

Alignment failed

It sounds like your print cartridge is not releasing any ink. Recommend you start with replacing that. It could be due to the ink jet being dried over or clogged.

HP Premium All in one printer c 309a all lights keep flashing.

Have you tried unplugging the printer from the wall for 5 minutes to reset it? If that doesn't work you either have a defective ink cartridge or the printer is defective. Due to the very low prices of new printers replacing it in almost all cases is the cost conscious thing to do.

Hi

Well it is nothing but to change the region of the printer. hence remove all the cartridges and remove the power supply first.

1. Hold # & 9 key on the keypad
2. Connect the power back to the printer
3. It will say NVRAM init.
4. It will ask for the Region select what you want.
5. And continue to work

OR

Goto setup menu in printer and change the region.

What is printhead failure on my HP Photosmart C6100 series printer? and how can I fix it permanently?

The print-head is the "heart" of an ink-jet printer -- it pulls the ink from the ink-cartridges, and sprays the ink onto the paper.

If the "manufacturer-warranty" has expired, it is time to buy a new unit, and to responsibly recycle the old unit.

Ink Failure on HP photosmart premium C309g printer

Turn off the machine, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges (lift the lid up at the base of the control panel), wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't fix the problem you may have to re-prime the ink lines to clear the error. You can find instructions for this at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.

Poor print quality

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridges that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Ink system failure (just put in new cartridges)

you should contact the hp support for this. if the printer is in warranty you might get a replacement as well because it is an issue with the printer itself.
contact HP technical support as soon as you can .
