ControlCenter3 'an unexpected error occured. Please restart your computer then try again. (cc3-003-00031c0e) After trying again I get the same error mesage. this occure when trying to scan a document to my email. All these settings have worked before but suddenly I am getting this error message.

After doing a bit of reading, it seems the Brother MFC-240C model is discontinued. I didn't see any support for windows 7, so what we can try is changing the compatibility.

1) Uninstal the suite/drivers, then restart your computer.
2) Reinstall the suite/drivers and restart your computer once again.
3)Look for BrCtrCen.exe in the directory of where ever the suite is installed.
Should be either
C:\Program Files (x86)\Brother\ControlCenter3\BrCtrCen.exe (for 65 bit windows)
C:\Program Files\Brother\ControlCenter3\BrCtrCen.exe (For 32 bit windows)
4) Right click BrCtrCen.exe, go to compatibility options and set the compatibility to vista.

I'm getting that exact error running ControlCenter3 on a Vista 64-bit with SP2 platform but only when I use the OCR option. Haven't found an answer yet but it was working about a month ago (I don't do OCR very much). I'll post an answer if I find one. Errrrr, System Restore here I'm come :-(

DID YOU GET THE RESTORE CD WITH THE HP SYSTEM IF YES THEN PUT THE CD IN START YOUR COMPUTER CHOOSE BOOT FROM DVD AND THATS IT IT WILL RESTORE IT OR ELSE U TRY PRESS FUNCTION 8 LIKE F8 AND CHOOSE LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION. IF DOSENT HELP U HAVE TO GET THE GENUINE wINDOWS DVD AND INSTALL YOUR WINDOWS AGAIN

1.Uninstall all of MFL Pro



2.Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Brother\ControlCenter
3.Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\brother\ControlCenter 4.Reinstall MFL Pro

remove all associated driver and scanner software reinstall all the software with the scanner and printer disconnected then rebootit all connected. Try again

You just didn't set up the scanner function, please reinstall the software and restart before you use the scanner.

This seems to be serious problem. Please share the exact error message. If there are any external devices connected to the system please remove and then try to boot the system again.
Also post the brand and model of your laptop so that we can be more specific in terms of the steps.

You did not indicate the type of Operating System.
This document pertains to HP and Compaq computers with Windows Vista. If Windows Vista suddenly starts without warning, or restarts when you try to shut it down, it may be because your operating system is set to automatically restart when certain system errors occur. This feature of the Windows Vista operating system can be disabled. Use the information below to disable the Automatically Restart option. Step 1: Disabling Automatically restart option to view error messages You can prevent the computer from restarting by turning off the Automatically Restart option:

1. Click Start .
2. Right-click Computer , and click Properties
3. Click Advanced system settings .
4. Click the Advanced tab and select Settings in the Startup and Recovery section.
5. Remove the check mark next to Automatically restart under System Failure .
6. Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery window and click OK , again, and then close the System Properties window.
7. Restart the computer. NOTE: The computer will no longer restart automatically when a problem occurs. Instead a blue screen appears with more useful information. You can now search for a resolution using the text from the error.
