The simplest way to format a Flash Drive or a Pendrive is to format it from the My Computer without using any commands. Let's assume you are doing it on a Computer (Pc Desktop). Follow the instructions;
1. Connect you Data Traveler on one of the Usb port of your computer, and wait for few minutes.
2. After you know that it's been detected by the computer, open "My Computer" then right-click on the Data Traveler's Drive Icon e.g. Removable Disk (K:), etc.. and select "Format"

    Hi @kidane2, you can follow the steps mentioned by fix-shad0w, but as you mentioned, it seems there's another problem with your Flash Drive not only to be formatted. If the computer hangs or freezes after the usb driver is connected/inserted, then it could be a hardware issue, try it on another USB port, but if there's no doubt with hardware, then follow the steps mentioned below:

    First of all, note the existing Partition, eg. C:, or D: or E etc.. so that you will be identify the pen drive's drive name after is connected. After the Pen Drive is connected to the computer usb port, click "Start", then select "Run" or "Start search" and type in "Cmd" [or you can simply press Windows Key + R on the keyboard to access the Run or Start search menu], once the cmd is typed in and hit Enter, a new window called the Command Prompt will open up, it's usually a black screen with white texts. Now type in "cd\" and press Enter, the again open the pen drive directory, suppose if it's drive letter is J: then type in "J:" (please ignore all the quotation marks). Now type in "format J:" and press Enter. You'll see the screen like this:

    Now press "Enter" as instructed...

    Now press "Y" on the keyboard and then Enter..

    If you wish to give a Volume Label name, type in the name (shown above)... and press Enter.

    You'll see the message as shown below:

    That's all, you are done formatting your Flash Drive from the command prompt. This option is available with Windows systems and the same demonstration is for Windows computers only.

    Note: You have to make sure that you are performing this procedure to the correct drive, otherwise you may loose your data...

    Good Luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

Just insert the Date Traveller to a computer. The computer will detect it and it will assign it as a Removable Drive. Right click the assigned drive then click the format. A window will appear, click Quick Format then click Start.
After the reformat, on the taskbar look for the icon with green arrow with an hardware. Double click it then click the button Stop. It will advise you that the hardware is Safe to Remove.
After that, you can now use your Date Traveller.
