Please check the door safety interlock switches ...

If the switches are faulty, the oven thinks the door is open and will not turn on the heat ...

Find them indice hear the latch assembly.

bad diode or inverter board or magnetron itself---diode fails first and inverter is power board for magnetron which does the heating.

Sharp R-340H Microwave has power but does not heat food. Carousel working.

The magnetron is the likely problem, "heats food" the other two items to check is the high voltage capacitor and diode. It usually is cheaper to replace.

Microwave quit

Hi there,

Well first of all you can try to clean the turntable- Remove your glass turntable cooking tray from your microwave. Gently wash with warm soapy water to remove any debris. Next remove the turntable guide and clean it in the same manner, with warm soapy water. Pay particular attention to the turntable rollers. There could be spilled food particles caught in the rollers, hindering the rollers' movement. Also, gently cleanse the internal cavity of your microwave, paying special attention to the area below the turntable. With the internal cavity, turntable, and turntable guide completely clean and dry, return the parts to your microwave. First place the turntable guide on the bottom of the microwave. There should be a circular groove in the bottom of the microwave cavity keeping the turntable guide in place. Follow the guide with the turntable cooking tray. Carefully place the glass tray over the turntable guide and onto the drive bushing. The drive bushing should fit neatly into the grooves on the bottom of your glass cooking tray. It may take some adjusting before the tray will sit properly onto the drive bushing. If further you have the same problem then this could be a failing turntable motor...... Please post comments for further help or information.......

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Microwave runs but does not heat or cook food

If a Goldstar, LG or Zenith MV1610 or MV1608 is running but not seeming to heat a load placed in center of turntable, its probably because the "stirrer" intended to spread microwaves generated by the magnetron around the cook chamber is stuck so that most all the heating is directed toward the back and top rather than the center of the cook chamber. This usually occurs after cooking for longer than a minute with no load in the cook chamber - as when a model w/o a timer (such as a MV1608) is intentionally operated in cook mode to serve as a kitchen timer, or when a model with a timer function (such a MV1610) is accidentally operated for longer than a minute w/o any load. Before assuming the magnetron (usually warranted for 5, 8 or even 10 years) or other high voltage component such as diode or capacitor needs to be replaced, try “cooking” a 16 oz pyrex cup of water at full power on the outer edge of the turntable for 2-3 minutes - which usually reactivates the "stirrer" and restores normal cooking function.

The turntable on my microwave/convection oven Model R930AW-P doesn't turn. The turntable motor shaft moves freely, but when the turntable is on it and cooking food, the turntable doesn't move.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. You may have to cut the cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

We have the full service manual for this oven, and have uploaded it to our site here.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.
