Text, desktop scenes and photos have become slightly blurred and I cannot make them sharper with PC or Monitor settings. My screen resolution has always been and still is set at 1024 x 768

Can you offer some kind of fine-tuning help ? I am 86 yrs old and cannot afford to replace this Mag which has given me fantastic service for over 8 or more years

If it is a CRT monitor then the tube may be going out. A new monitor is about $129 for many of the cheap monitors I suggest you swap it for a newer flat screen.

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: MAG monitor

The first things that comes to mind is a cable problem. Check to see if there is a bent pin on the graphics cable. Is this a new problem? Did it work before?

Samsung syncmaster 913v gives message ' not optimum mode"

The 913V has a native resolution of 1280x1024. If you use a higher resolution than that, you'll get slightly blurry text. If you use a lower resolution, then images will be slightly choppy around the edges.

To get rid of the message, set your resolution to 1280x1024.

In Windows XP, you do this by right-clicking on the background (desktop) and selecting "Properties" to bring up the display properties.
Select the tab marked "Settings" and look for a "Screen Resolution" slider. Move that slider to the right until it displays "1280x1024" and hit "OK"

Distorted digital photos

Most likely the resolution of your desktop has and aspect ratio that in incorrect for your monitor. The native resolution of that monitor if 1440x900. Use the Windows (if using windows) desktop properties to set the desktop resolution to 1440x900.

Power light flashes with no display

That usually means that the connection between the PC and the monitor has been interupted- check that the cable (probably has blue ends) between the two is firmly connected, and power it back up. If that doesn't work, you have one of three problems; a broken VGA cable, a broken monitor, or a broken video card. Finding out which- you'll actually need someone tech-savvy there to help you figure that out. Try plugging the monitor into a different computer. If that fails, use a different VGA cable (cables are pretty cheap at monoprice.com), and if that fails, it's your video card.
