Model # 47024 10 hp chipper. Has trouble starting. electric start

This has happened several times for me and is usually caused by a peice of word jamed in the input hopper and half cut by the blades. Always make sure there is no wood in the input chute before stopping motor. remove the collector bag and use a long pry bar to reverse the flywheel. if this moves backwards you may then be able to remove the peice of wood jammed in the blades thru the input chute. Long Skinny arms is required to reach down the chute. Use a Flashlight to see if this is your problem.

The drive belt may be the wrong size if there is no play in the clutch. I have a 10 hp, but there is a common manual for the 10 and 8. My belt is a 4L380.

If you don't see an inline filter then the only filter is a screen in the fuel tank. Sounds like the engine is not getting the fuel it needs. Check the tank and clean as nessesary the screen maybe plugged. If you leave fuel in the tank for long periods of time with out using a fuel stabilizer your carb may need cleaning. Old untreated fuel turns into a varnish like substance. Check your fuel bowl and make sure there is not any dirt in it. You don't mention the engine manufacturer but, mine has the carb adjustment on the bottem of the fuel bowl. I have always used a fuel stabilizer and keep the tank full (filling it with a screened filter) with a added inline filter. In 20 years of my chipper-vacs life never have I had fuel problem.

Sounds defective. Even if you could fix this problem something else is bound to go wrong. Troy-Bilt has a reputation for quality products and I'd suggest, since it's brand new, you get it replaced.
