I worked at a tool rental while attending college and have felt the same way as you when looking for oil drain plug on various tools. Some engines do not have a plug and you must tilt the engine to get the oil out. Others had a plug but could remove it so had to tilt anyway. Most small engines had the plug along the edge of the base of the engine. Look where the engine mounts to the frame of the generator. The engine block is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch thick there and usually has a 1/2 " square head plug. The oil drains very slow thru that hole. Some gen sets had a small tube (4 - 5 inch ) attached to drain hole that made it easier to catch oil. Good luck.
Motor should have a small drain plug at base of motor. Take
an empty container such as a antifreeze jug, cut out the top and use this a collection
container. Use Teflon tape on plug end when reinstalling.
