Apparently, the C4280 driver on your CD is incorrect. So, reinstall your C4280 driver from here:

www.hp.com and on the left side you will see a grey menu that says software and driver downloads. Click on it and type your product. The version right now is 9.7.1

DO NOT INSTALL THE HP INSTALLER FILE - it is the same as on your CD.

Hi, click on the link below for your mac drivers and other supporting software that you will need for your printer. i would advise to save these important drivers your HDD and transfer them to a CD-R if possible.

Go to the hp website and under software/drivers they will let you download the installation software, you just have to select the printer model that you are using.

You do not use the Windows Add Printer option for HP printers. Reinstall using the HP installation CD or downloaded package and follow the instructions. The HP installation wizard should prompt you when to connect the printer.

Here are a couple things you can do:

1) You can go to HP Support for C4280 where you need to select your operating system. On the next page you can select the software you need/want, either basic or full feature, and download it to your computer. After you download it, you can run it to install the software.

2) Have a friend copy your CD to a flash drive and then install the software from it.

The software CD may not have drivers for MAC yo might have to got to HP's website to download the correct drivers for MAC.
