Toshiba 22LV505 TV-DVD:

Toshiba 22" Model 22LV505 TV-DVD:
I get sound but no picture. Just a black screen. A very dim (extremely dim) backlight is visible at start-up (when the unit is turned on), but it goes to black in less than a second. Inserted a DVD and the result is the same (sound but no picture). Is this a backlight issue? Is there a fuse for the backlight? Any fuse (in this unit) that I could replace myself?
I have unplugged and plugged the unit, tried to see if I could do picture set-up (remote control), but no luck so far.
Thanks for any help...
Kevin

Check the DC filter caps in the power supply first. Check the 24vdc (or 18vdc for this 22" model) to see if it goes away when the screen goes black.
There are main AC fuse, backlight inverter fuses, T-CON fuses.

TOSHIBA LCD TV/DVD Combination Model 19DV615DB. How do I replace the lamp, as I have no picture on any channel?

The Spaminator Mar 22, 2021
Hi Dawn Thomas, the lamp is known as a back light and using a torch on the screen when tv on will confirm if the back light is the fault. it could also be a faulty backlight inverter which powers the back light .

My toshiba 22cv100u screen is black when I have tv on, i have sound but no picture

your backlight may be out....I working on one with same problem...the transformer on the backlight inverter board went bad, its about 12 dollars on ebay....but in your case, would require some troubleshooting to determine if you have the same problem. there is an access panel on the back of the tv, under that is 4 connectors, they are high voltage out to the backlight lamps. you would need a volt meter to determine if the lamps are bad or the board

Dim display ... no backlight

You most likely have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :-
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
