I have a restaurant client running RPE who told me he could not alphabetize his menu buttons. Sure enough, when I looked at his system, when I went into Touch Screen Configuration and hit the alphabetize button for each department, the changes didn't take effect. I exited and restarted RPE several times but no changes showed up on the menu buttons. As an experiment, I tried doing other changes in Touch Screen Configuration such as changing button colors, etc. and those changes also did not take effect. Can anyone think of what could possibly be causing this?

Not sure how I missed your post earlier. Anyway, on the Touch Screen Configuration panel, click OPTIONS in upper left corner, then try RESET ALL ITEMS AND DEPARTMENTS. I've never had to do this, but I have used the REMOVE DUPLICATE BUTTONS with good success. Close down RPE completely and restart. And always do a database backup first.

What model is the RPE?
Also, have you tried a hard reset?

  • doodilidute Jul 07, 2010

What do you mean "model"? Did you mean version number? If so, the version is the latest - v 12

What do you mean hard reset? Did you mean reboot the computer? If so, then yes I did reboot.

SOURCE: Syncing client with server - Restaurant Pro Express

Your getting a connection successful because your looking at the localhost. The server would be the network name of your server. And the password is case sensitive and is pcAmer1ca. (Note the number 1, not an i)

SOURCE: I am running RPE version

Hi dale388,
Several possibilities. You need to click on the button you wish to change. You need to check the box 'Display this button'. I think that some functions require you to log out and back in to see the change. If you have more than one schedule, to need to be editing the schedule that is currently running to see changes. Are you making the changes on the server. If not, the station you are on may not be communicating with the server properly.

How to delete restaurant pro and start over

Backup database first.
Log your license key by trying to register. It should display.
Uninstall RPE from Programs in Control Panel. Then search for the CRE.net folder and rename it CREOLD.net. Then reload RPE.
After install, it will ask you to re-register. It will also ask you if you want to keep existing database. If you are starting from scratch, choose over write with a new one. Otherwise, keep existing db. This will preserve your inventory and menu setup.

Problem with registering Restaurant Pro Express (activation code)

You need to contact your original sales rep. If you bought it as a package or ebay deal, this makes it a little more difficult. I might be able to get it re-registered thru my sales rep. If interested, contact me.

I have a client with a Posiflex system running PC America Restaurant Pro Express 9.5. This was a used system which I purchased from a discount house. I set it up and delivered it to the client a week...

You could try reloading RPE. It only takes a few minutes and could correct the problem. You would not lose any settings because they are stored in the database. Be sure to backup database before you do this.
But why aren't you running it thru the receipt printer. Much more reliable.

Testimonials needed for my clients

Are you looking for testimonials for RPE?? You should ask your vendor for these. Such as International Point of Sales. They would give them to you freely for a chance at selling you an RPE system.

The restaurant i'm working for is changing to pc-america's cre pos. the old pos prints the food orders and table #'s in a large font on the kitchen printer. i am looking for a way to configure cre's...

As far as I know, there is no way to change the font settings in CRE (I hope you mean RPE). But, you may be able to change the default settings in the printer itself to get larger print. I am available for tech help if you need it, but you should have 3 months free support from PCAmerica with the purchase. I also do custom menu support for RPE. [email protected]

Problem configuring client station

easiest solution is to avoid their sync stuff all together, i've almost never gotten it to work correctly. what i generally do is set up the client station as a "stand-alone" and put the server address for the server name. that usually does the trick, only lick is that if the server goes down, your toast, the client goes down too.

Symbol will not send changes to POS system

I had setup the symbol on one of our client computers not the server computer which caused a problem with syncing the inventory information with Restaurant Pro Express. With RPE there is a single "server" computer that all of the client computers send and receive their information to and from. The Symbol MC50 must be setup on this server in order for the information to sync properly.
