Turn projector on and before doing anything else, press and hold the UP arrow on the machine for 30-40 seconds WHILE watching the display screen on the wall - the remaining hours will display only momentarily - if you look away you could miss it. Cheers

SOURCE: How to check lamp hours on xf-45 or xf-35?

On the XF-45, you push the "UP" button and then the "Menu" button and hold both of them for approximately 20 seconds. After that you will see a bunch of numbers in the top left hand corner of the screen. Using the Left and Right arrow keys, move the "Group" number until it reads 111. Then using the Up and Down arrow keys to scroll through each lamp (0-3).

If you move the "Group" number to 110, you can see total number of hours that socket has run.

SOURCE: Reset Lamp Hours Timer

Make sure the main power switch is OFF. Hold the "ON", "MENU", and "VOLUM -" buttons at the same time and turn the main power switch on. Keep them held until the yellow power standby light comes on, then let go. It is done.
This works for Toshiba TDP T-9

SOURCE: Sanyo PLC - Z5 Lamp Replacement Light

Just had the same problem. Based on other suggestions on here I tried resetting the overheat switch, and IT WORKED!

So, you have to pull the 6 screws (one of them is shorter than the rest, remember where it goes) that hold the top on the projector. 3 are on the back, 3 on the bottom - look for the arrows next to the screws.

Put the projector on it's feet, and pull off the top. The button wires will still be connected, so just hold onto the top and find the black circle/shaft above where the lamp is. The shaft has white paint on the top/tip of it. Push it down with a light amount of force. You should hear/feel it click.

Put top back on, put screws in, and you should be good to go.

Don't forget to reset the lamp replacement counter in the menus.

It sounds like the lamp is going.
Do you know how many hours of use are reported on the lamp?

Many times these projectors have circuitry to shutdown when they suspect the lamp is near the end of life. Lamp hours vary and usually will go up to and even beyond expectancy, but there is occasions you can receive a bad lamp and have it blow in a matter of hours...not common but it does occur.

I hope this helps,

on my XU 55 the trick to read the lamp hours is to press and hold down the power button in about 20 seconds when the projector is turned on. there will come a window in the upper left corner that tells about total hours and lamp hours. the window will disappear quite fast, so one might need to do it twice.

Sanyo PLC-XF46N projector shuts down before powering up completely

The Fix Ya rep suggested that I try the "Reset" button located next to the Audio out on the side of the projector; this solution proved to be the fix I needed. I was able to get the lamps to warm up and get into the menu to cut back the bulbs/power consumption on start-up, allowing the projector to function for a problem-free 4 hour period Unfortunately, I had the same issue this morning, but the same fix worked again.
