You can download your audio drivers from Dell's Driver Support page here:
http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs
Click on the "Drivers and Downloads" link on this page. Enter in you service tag (found on a small sticker somewhere on your computer) in the next field and press enter. In the first field, select the Operating System you will be usiwith these drivers. Next find the "Audio" section and open the drop-down menu. Download the audio driver you need by clicking on the "Download" button next to the driver you need (by default Dell only shows the most updated versions of a given driver), and save it to your computer. Double-click the driver file to initiate the installation and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver and enable your audio. You may need to restart your computer after this installation, and your sound will probably not work until you have restarted.
Your sound card will now work!

Well my sound card says null what dose that mean

Hello, if your sound card says "Null" it means that your computer isn't seeing the drivers for the card. Here's what to do. First, find the exact model of your Dell. Write this down. Now go to dells site and look for "Sound" drivers. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen Download the driver and run it. This should install the newest drivers for your sound card. Turn off the computer and re start it. That should be it. If this doesn't work your sound card may be bad. Hope this helps.

How do i replsce the sound card on dell dimension

The sound card is on the mother board, but you can buy a PCI sound card and install it in one of the empty whit slots on the mother board.
I am not sure but you may need to dissable the onboard sound before you install the add in replacement sound card.
You can ask dell support if you need to do this, [email protected]
Good luck. I hope this helps. Have a good day.

Dell and sound card

is your dell pc a AGP fitting card or a PCI express, this is where you may have the wrong sound card as the fittings to the motherboard differ and wont fit one of the two newer dell computers tend to use PCI express video cards as the old dell computers tend to use the large AGP audio card fitting, good luck, hope this helps you understand.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, will a PCI Express sound card work in place of the original Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card

Well, the short answer to your question is "No, it won't work". The Dell Dimension 4600 does not have any PCI Express slots in it, therefore you can't install it, and therefore it won't work. But, if you installed a PCI sound card, it would work. The BIOS would recognize the add-on sound card, disable the onboard sound, and your sound will start going through the expansion card instead. Hope this helps.
