How do you record a message. I have lost my instructions.

The instructions for recording a message are on page 33 of the manual.

go to the phone website and download a new manual it will help. if you dont know the phone website use google and search for it

I believe you use the "memo rec" In the silver color on the base, second line of buttons on far left.

I downloaded the instruction manual, based on someone else's solution to a different question about the same product.

Hi Diana - To record your outgoing message, hold down your ogm button ( outgoing message) for two seconds and it will ask you to record a message. To play back your message, just push the same button and it will play your message. If you don't like it just do it again. If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. A warning I'll pass on that I just learned:
I just lost 57 special messages that I had saved for years to follow up on, and learned the hard way (if you haven't come across it yet):
From page 6 of manual:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOVING THE ANSWERER...
3. Go to the electrical outlet and unplug the power supply. DO NOT UNPLUG THE POWER JACK CONNECTED TO THE UNIT. If you do, all memory will be erased.
I wasn't even moving it to another place, the jack just came a little loose while moving it around the table, and all the messages disappeared. A very poor detail in an otherwise (in my experience) well-designed machine. I HAVE A VTECH PHONE AND LOST POWER TO IT. AND I'M TRYING TO SET THE ANSWERING MACHINE UP, I CAN'T FIND THE INSTRUCTION BOOKLET AND I CAN'T FIND IT ON THE INTERNET. I HAVE A 5.8GHZ VTECH MODEL IA5874 VTC-IA5874-R. I KEEP GETTING THE LETTER (A) ON THE BASE PHONE AND IT WILL NOT RECORD ANY MESSAGES THAT ARE LEFT. I DID WHAT THE MENU SAID TO DO BUT STILL WONT RECORD ANY MESSAGES, NEED HELP TO WHERE I CAN FIND THE INSTRUCTION BOOK OR HOW TO FIX IT. THANK YOU
