We print labels using ribbon. The problem is the roll of ribbon in the machine is smooth but as labels are printed it does not stay smooth. It sort of crinkles during the last step of the printing process which causes lines and streaks to print on the label where it should be whole.
How can we fix this?

The printer now is replaced, but i had changed also te printhead before. Now we use a other type of Zebra now :), more better and slower.
Thank You

I hope this information will help. If you have the manual, can you check and make sure that the ribbon is threaded through the right path. If it's not, there won't be enough tension on the ribbon and the ribbon will get sloppy as you use it. If my information was helpful, please rate it. Thanks for using FixYa.com

You have to set the ribbon type to be "non-transmissive" for black transfer film.
To set the ribbon type, turn the printer off. Then press and hold the "feed" and "pause" buttons while turning on the power. The printer will now be in diagnostic mode - you can page through the menus until it says "ribbon type"
Pick the correct type and press the "pause" key to save the value. Then turn off the printer and turn it on again normally. The ribbon error goes away.

If you are working with the driver, change in stock page direct thermal to thermal transfer.

Could be down to tension on the ribbon roller/spool. Check to see if you have pulled out the end part of the spool (black bit) that should ensure there is back tension on the ribbon.
No print on the label. The media may not be direct thermal media when printing without ribbon (i.e. thermal
transfer). See the test procedure
Determining Thermal Media Types on page 29.
• For thermal transfer printers, the media may not be outside wound or approved for use in
the G-Series printer. See the following ribbon test procedures: Ribbon Test with Adhesive
on page 32
and Ribbon Scratch Test on page 33.
• Is the media loaded correctly? Follow the instructions for
Loading Roll Media on page 11
in the Getting Started section. For printing using transfer ribbon, see
Loading Transfer Ribbon
on page 14.
