No sound from Yamaha keyboard

It was fine until one day it cratered for no apparent reason, making only scratchy barely audible sounds and now it is totally silent. I want some one to come here and fix it as I am clueless.
I have it set up to play through a computer. the computer sound works fine and the playback device is activated. should I just toss it out? Help.... thanks,

your other guy said take it to a repairman. well there are not any in this area who will repair electronic keyboards. so I am stuck with trying to fix it myself and his advice didn't help solve the problem. PS I am unable to pack it up & ship it someplace as its permanently affixed to the stand. thanks.

Hi,
Since your keyboard works fine with the PC. That means the problem is with the keyboard's Speaker. Either your speaker cable or speaker itself is not working... you have to identify that whether the problem is of speaker wire or speaker.... see that whether the service manual of your gadget is available or not.. if available then purchase the same. It will help you a lot for while repairing
Hope this has helped you....
Thanks...

I am sorry that you thought I said my keyboard works fine through the computer. NO! I said, the computer is fine; I meant the computer system sound is working and so are the computer's speakers. It is the Keyboard itself that does not work--it is totally silent when its keys are pressed.

also, the lighted part that shows the function has disappeared. it still lights up, but the function, (i.e. "Grand Piano 100") no longer shows.

I have bought new batteries for it and will try to replace them myself if I can figure out how to open the battery compartment. it's conveniently placed on the instrument's bottom where I can't see it, according to the manual. Let me know if you have any other ideas, or if anyone is a Yamaha expert, that's who I need. Thanks, Sylvia

I just had a similar symtom... and I fixed it. Turned out the plug in the wall came loose and the keyboard was being powered by the not so new batteries!

This isn't a solution. I just wanted to say the same just happened to my Yamaha dgx220 after I hooked it to my computer.
I just tried to play a midi file and the speakers broke. It's out of warranty and with today's technology it's usually cheaper to replace than to fix!

Hello,

The keyboard takes only a specialist to fix the problem. Its also very delicate. The best you can do is to reset it and if the resetting does not work, then you will have to take the keyboard to a repairman to fix it for you.

Firstly, connect a headphone to the keyboard and observe if it will give a good sound. if it gives a good sound, then it means the speaker for your keyboard may have loosed contact or gotten burst.

But if it does not make any sound with the headphone, then it might be a board or sound ic problem. You can also try resetting the resetting the keyboard to default.

Turn off the keyboard, press and hold the last white key and turn the keyboard on while still holding the white key. The keyboard will then restore to its factory default.

If that doesn't solve the problem, you will have to dismantle the keyboard, use a meter to read the panel/board in order to detect the fault and do every necessary replacement. Also, you can do a deep cleaning, by cleaning all the dust in it.

If you can't do any of this, then you will end up taking is to a repairing man to fix the problem for you.

Good luck.

Yamaha PSR70 key board rhythm section not working

Go to the menu and the settings, language & Keyboard Touch Input. Text Input under an other setting make sure that you have the sound feedback checked. If that is checked and its still not working try restarting your device. Sound feedback is checked; no sound for keyboard or menu/app selections.
When no sound is output even though the power is turned on, check the following points. Make sure that the master volume is not set too low. Set it to an appropriate level using the slider or knob. Make sure that nothing is connected to the headphone jack on the keyboard.

Hi I have a Yamaha electrone el 15, there is no sound from the 2 keyboards but the percussion sounds all play and can get drum sounds on the bottom keyboard but no sounds when the organ is selected,

There could be a few reasons why your Yamaha Electone EL-15 isn't producing sound when the organ setting is selected. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Make sure the volume is turned up on the keyboard itself and on any external amplifiers or speakers you may be using.
  2. Check the connections between the keyboard and any external amplifiers or speakers. Make sure the cables are plugged in securely at both ends.
  3. Make sure the keyboard is in "organ" mode and not in "silent" or "play along" mode.
  4. Check the keyboard settings to ensure that the organ sounds are enabled.
  5. If you are using the keyboard with a computer, make sure the MIDI settings are correct and that the keyboard is being recognized by the computer.
  6. If you have tried all of the above and the keyboard still isn't producing sound, it is possible that there is an issue with the internal sound system. In this case, you may need to have the keyboard serviced by a professional technician.

How do i reset the keyboard to factory settings? It sounds really weird right now

You can normally reset Yamaha keyboards by holding down the highest note while turning on. If you want to do a full factory reset see below - remember this may delete all songs etc you have saved to the keyboard memory.

While the blue display is working alright, my yamaha i425 suddenly stopped working. Cannot play the keys anymore..The power adaptor is working fine

Either your key scanning section or the power amplifier has fried.
Try playing the demo song, if the sound can be heard then the scanning section is faulty. You may download the servicemanual from Elektrotanya com and repair the keyboard.

Scratchy volume potentiometer

Try cleaning your volume potentiomenter with contact cleaner (they come in spray can's), the scratchy sound is audible when you turn your volume control on, the contacts inside your potentiometer accumulated dust or some other particles.

My Guitar Amp Started Squeiling And Now It Is Barely Audible.

There is little or no hope that this can be fixed at home, sorry . If it lights up and you have power and still no sound, it may be simi cooked, not to say it couldn't be fixed. But lots of times these days Tecs want as much to repair as a new one. Balanceit out for a new one , to the repair cost . You may just find a new one is the way to go.But never toss out, junk is someones treasure. good luck DFD

Yamaha YPG625 screen shows only vertical lines

I brought the keyboard into a local service technician. He told me that he had to remove about 50 screws but the solution was simple. He unplugged and reconnected the ribbon connector. It apparently was not making good contact.
