My car stereo flashes the word "PROTECT"

My daughter had the car and was listening to a CD. It stopped playing and the word "PROTECT" flashed onto the display and now it won't do anything else.

If this happened while playing music at a little higher volume, you must check the speakers for short in coils. disconnect the speakers to see if the protect condition changes, if so check the speakers and wiring. If not then you must have blown up the output IC or a power shorting within the set. You will have to remove the pcb disconnect the power to the output IC to confirm the fault. Helpful I hope. How to fix my stereo thats saying protect
Disconnect the loudspeakers, if this solves the problem, one or both loudspeaker is in short circuit, if not the amp is broken and you need to have it serviced. If it is happening only when listening at high volume, turn the volume down ;-)

JVC KD-R610 is stuck in Protect mode
Try disconnecting your battery, reconnecting it, and resetting your stereo. If that doesn't work, the constant power (yellow wire) or ignition wire (red wire) may have come in contact with ground or isn't properly connected. Make sure everything is connected properly and try resetting your stereo. If it is still flashing "protect", the unit needs servicing Contact JVC Customer Care Center at: 800-252-5722.

I had the same Prob on my KDC 237. I hit the small reset Button on the front and it fixed it. Hope this helps.

Security Code for Protect mode
Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!

Can't do anything - LCD screen says "PROTECT"
It may be that there is a problem with a fuse inside the stereo. It may say protect because the fuse has broken a connection that allows it to turn on. If the protect goe sup it is trying to help save the stereo from cooking its self, and give you a chance to get it fixed. If that is not the problem then it may be easier to just buy a new one, because a fix may be expensive if you don't have any warranties.
