Try to determine if the safety switch on the seat is closing or opening.
Does this happen when you are sitting on the seat and engage the blades?
You're ight, if you have gas and spark it should run, if the mixture is right.

If the plug shows gas in it that is not firing, it could be a bad plug wire, and less likely a pluig that is bad. Or the coil is bad, and not giving full high voltage to the plug through a possible good wire.
Replace the plug and wire in the offending cylinder to determine if this is the problem (ignition problem).

You may have a bent push rod. I had the same problem and started tearing the engine apart. When I took off the valve cover on the left side(sitting in the seat)the push rod was just laying there.
