Hi, try pressing the ESC button during boot up, this will allow you to start in safe mode, from where you can change your passworg, via the control panel. (Sometimes its the Del button on sertain machines)

Toshiba Tecra 8000 Laptop has been stored for 1 year, never had a password, now when turned on just sits there asking for a password, pulled it apart and disconnected 2? batteries but made no difference

Try accessing the BIOS screen when it boots up by pressing either the ESC or F1 keys repeatedly and there should be a password or supervisor password section where you can disable all the passwords.

Boot Password

Actually its a malfunction and Toshiba knows it.
You should contact Toshiba, and they will fix it for free.
They will have to flash the BIOS, and fix the bug that caused it.
