These units come with a detergent bottle that attaches to the spray wand. The manual describes what detergents to use and the attachment reduces the pressure and siphons the right amount of detergent from the container. It is not a good idea to try to run detergent through the pump.
Here is a link to the operating manual for a similar pressure washer. http://www.ppe-pressure-washer-parts.com/files/1961581/uploaded/pw0501400.pdf.
It goes onto the wand itself. With the Pressure Washer off: If you have the wand unattached from the hose it works easier. Then separate the WAND into two pieces at the big joint in the center. Insert the bottle into the joint on the opposite end of the section that will be attached to the hose, (once you have the wand in two pieces you will see the same types of connections that are on the bottle.) then attach the other end of the wand to the bottle. Now reattach the wand to the hose.
In most cases this is because you have a high pressure tip, the red, white, yellow or green tip, on the wand. The detergent system will only work if you have the black, soap tip on the wand. With a pressure tip on the wand, there is too much back pressure for the syphon system to work. If you are using the soap tip, check the feed tube for the detergent for blockage, especially at the pickup filter and where it attaches to the water line.
These units have a quick connect system that enables you to change attachments quickly and easily... The fitting is a bayonet similar to a light globe you have to pill back slightly on it and twist it clockwise whilst pointing the lance away from you then it should just pull out and do the exact oppisite to fit the detergent dispenser.
They some times get forign matter built up in them when they havent been swapped over in a while so if it still does not seperate give it a couple of taps on the ground...
Check the plug ends at the top of the wand and the plug going into the hose handle, also at the bottom of the wand. It sounds like they may be burnt, if so they will need to be replaced. One cause of these connections going bad is not turning the power head off when connecting or disconnecting. Therre are other causes, the switch in the handle is going bad, also some of these cannisters have a relay mounted by the vac motor, sometimes they go bad.
