It might be that your USB port is not giving the iPod enough power to connect and charge etc. but you can go into device manager and change how much power is fed into it.

When connecting iphone in usb port, display stays reading and nothing happens on dual xdm6350

ANSWER:
The USB is not going to work with your iPod. It is intended to be used with a flash drive or external hard drive with a folder structure containing either .mp3 or .wma files.

REASON:
The way the USB works on the system is that it reads all the files and folders on the entire device and will say "reading" until it reads all the files and folders. This should only take a few seconds but if there is tons of files it may take longer.
Main problem: An iPod contains much more than just music files and folders - it contains an entire operating system. Worse, the operating system which the iPod uses is protected, keeping other devices except for iTunes from reading the music files.

SOLUTION:
You will need to use a flash drive or external hard drive with your USB. This device can only contain music, and the music must be organized into folders. Your iPod will not work. However, you can use Auxiliary input using a cable which both ends are 1/4" headphone jacks, one end going to the iPod and other plugged into your stereo.

Good Luck!

Cant get music on

a lot of the ipod's are a pain because they only want you to use their downloads and their music. If you are just trying to transfer music from your music on your computer to the ipod it won't except it. The music will show it transfered to the ipod but won't show up on it because apple with all of their ipods use a different format for their songs which only the ipod can read. I have tried every way around this and you just have to breakdown and go through itunes. You can take all your music you have on your computer now and put it on itunes then load it on your ipod and it will transfer fine. Good news is that itunes is free, lol.

I have a new laptop... I am trying to download music from my computer to my ipod. I think I am missing some kind software to make this happen.

If you do not have iTunes already downloaded onto your new laptop then you need to download it before you can put music from your computer onto your iPod.
Go to this link http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download iTunes (free). Once it is downloaded, you have to import your music that's on your computer onto your iTunes. This will take a while if you have a lot of music.
After that is done, you will be able to plug your iPod into your laptop and iTunes should recognize it and from there you'll be able to put your music onto the iPod.
Remember though, after you format your iPod to a PC you cannot plug it into a Mac (or Mac then to a PC) to put music on it, as it is already formatted to one and if you want music from the other you will have to reformat it which causes you to lose all of your music currently on it.
Be sure that the computer you are formatting it to (PC or Mac) is the kind you will be using for music at all times.
I hope this helps :)

Ipod touch 32g new - works really slowly when plugged into laptop but freezes when disconnected and shows picture of apple and does nothing

When the Apple Logo is stuck
If this happens, put the iPod into Disk Mode through the diagnostic menu. Then connect the iPod to your computer and update or restore the iPod. Sometimes you can get away with just updating the iPod, so try that first, but usually you have to restore the iPod . As always make backups of your music files, because the restore procedure will eliminate them.
Good Luck,I hope this helps Please rate me, Thanks

New Ipod Nano 4th Gen 16GB has went blank and will not turn on

HI there,

worst case scenario is that a circuit has broken inside. But your ipod will be under warrenty for a year from purchase.

Otherwise, leave the ipod to charge for a long time. Just leave it connected directly to the computer USB port despite not having any change in appearance. Also, don't connect it via a usb hub or through your keyboard. You will need to plug it into your computer directly.

You can also try entering DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

Then restore the ipod and update the firmware. Make sure you have the latest version of itunes installed. By checking through software update.

I hope this helps,

Nathan.

Music transfer

Do you have a extra ipod wire you can try?

If not you might want to pick one up and try that.

Make sure your Ipod isn't connected through a usb hub. If so try plugging it directly into the computer and see what happens.
