My power button doesnt work anymore

try putting it back on the charger & see if it turns on a friend of mine had a jammed lock button & when her phone died thats the only way she could turn it on. if it doesnt than theres most likely a battery problem. Also go in a very dark room & see if it works the backlight could be out on it

If it is just the button ie the plastic bit then under it shoudl be a tiny micro-switch press it with a blunt instrument.

Soft reset by removing the battery, wait 20 seconds and reinsert.

If this does not solve the problem...
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery to turn off your Merge.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

If none of this works, get a new phone, hopefully you have the insurance.

If the phone is charged, you should be able to turn the phone on by pressing the home (circle) button.

Open the back cover , take the battery out . Press and hold the power button without the battery . Put the battery back in . Try to power it on .
If that doesnt work try below steps , ( note : you will loose your data )
Power the device OFF. Press and hold the HOME and Back Arrow buttons. While holding these buttons, press the End Call button once. Release the Home and Back Arrow buttons and press the Trackball to execute the Hard Reset. The device will reboot once the process is complete.

If this doesn't help, the MixMax must be opened up. By CAREFULLY prying the corners loose, you can remove the back. You will break several of the smaller retainer clips during this, but it's OK. The main retainers will hold the unit together just fine once completed. Once opened, unplug the battery. NOTE THE ORIENTATION of the red and black wires. Use any 5V 500ma or less power supply and connect to the battery. Charge it for at least 30 seconds. return the battery to the unit, and reassemble. DO NOT TURN IT ON. Plug the USB cord in and let it charge completely.
The MixMax will disable the power if there is an unexpected power interruption, then the battery will run completely dead. Once dead, it cannot detect the USB when connected.

well actually if the ph does not have any other button to turn it off u can not do that, so probably u will need to purchase a new ph

I have the same exact problem. I had to get a new phone. I am trying to sync with it to get my numbers off but no luck so far

If you know how to put the phone in DFU mode your itunes will see it as in recovery mode and allow it to be restored.
If your planning on unlocking the phone for use without an iphone account, It's super important to restore the phone with firmware from 2.2 5G77 back. Don't restore to 2.2.1

For putting in DFU Mode
Plug the usb into the iphone and not into the computer.
1) turn your phone all the was off. (with the red slider)
2) Hold the home button for 5 second and then press and hold the power button for 7 seconds (Holding Both buttons down)
3)let go of the power button and keep holding the home button for an additional 27 second. your screen may go blank. don;t worry
now plug your usb into the computer with iTunes open.
iF it mounts in itunes it will say it's in recovery mode. press the shift key and press restore with you mouse choose the iphone firmware you downloaded from the link and restore.

jd014e9445 - the power button needs to be resolder back on or replace....so take it to a mobile service center to have it rectify.
