My cd drive wasnt reading any cd roms. it seems like the cd drive trys too read the cd twice then gives up.i bought a new cd drom drive and the problem still happens.

The CD rom is limited to CD's. In order to read a DVD, you will need to install a DVD rom. My suggestion is to get an external DVD Burner - i just bought a Samsung slim external DVD burner that reads / writes CD's and DVD's.
You will have no luck ever reading a dvd in a cd rom.
CD/DVD ROM drives like yours employs two lasers to work properly, one for CD read function and the other for DVD read function.
It seems that your laser for DVD reading is either dirty or damaged.
Try an optical drive cleaner, if that does not fix it, you are going to have to replace the drive. If you have warranty then replace it or have it
fixed. However, if your warranty has expired then the best thing to do is
to buy a new one. They are not expensive these days so the price
difference between fixing it and buying new should not be huge.
A lens cleaner disk should be available from most computer shops.
I assume you have proper software for DVD video playback like PowerDVD, VLC media player etc.

1.some times this happened the loose connection of the IDE cable,and power cable. 2.so disconnect the IDE and power cables and then connect again. if not fix 3. exchange the IDE cable of hard disc. 4.if no result,the lens of CD Rom has damaged, you will be have to buy a new CD rom.... thanks!
the cd you inserted was not compatible with your cd rom. inorder to read all cds you must use cd roms that supports up 60x speed your only have 24x speed thats y it cant read cds that has above 24x.
