I have an XE102 hooked to aWGX102 which has worked well for years. Last night, I had no internet connection but a strong signal. I found the Ethernet light on the router was out and the bottom Ethernet light on the XE102 was also out. Internet through another port is fine. Unplugged, replugged, changed cables, changed plug. Still only top 2 lights. Does this mean the XE102 is now history? Also if it needs replacing, does it have to be a XE102 to connect with the WGX102 or will an XE104 connect? Thank you very much.
-- Xe102 device is simply a plug n play device
-- so if the connection light shut off after some time
-- first hard resett the powerline adapter
-- and after that get the powerline checked
-- If that doesnt work there is no specific configuration
get the adapter replaced ..

you should check the wireless interface settings it might be set to
work as (802.11a and the bridge is configured to work as 802.11b or
802.11 g) , usually wi-fi interface and bridges by default supports and
operates in b and g
1. First check the light status of the XE102.
2. Then hard reset the Xe102
3. As this is a plug n play device all the lights should come on.
4. In case if the lights wont come on.
5. Check the powerline ..
6. And if that will not work , get a new adapter or replace the existing one from netgear ( 1-888-638-4327 )

I had the exact same problem those branded ones at our shop where one just stopped working all together.
THeres a couple of things to rule out so you can try some steps to figure it out.
Try changing the port on the router where the first plug is hooked into, if you can, try a direct connection without the plugs aswell. Also, try inserting the plugs in different outlets and see if anything has changed. If they're only a month old, they are still under warranty and you could get them replaced either through ytour place of purchase or from netgear aswell.
there wasn't actually any problem with the device. For these bridges to work, you need to be on the same phase of the wiring. If the devices are on different phases then they can't communicate. But I still couldn't get the encryption to work. Netgear support doesn't seemed to be bothered with that...they told me to ignore it.
-- Xe102 is a plug n play powerline device
-- there is no specific configuration required for that .
-- try hard resetting from the reset hole on the back of the device
-- then get the powerline checked
-- check the light status of the powerline device.
And if the problem still persists , upgrade the powerline device ..

Hi ABVT66 - Didn't your router come with two short cables? It should have. One is the cable that hooks up the modem to your router and the other is the cat5 (ethernet) cable that connects your router to your pc. Let me know if you have these cables. Also, if you check your device manager on your pc, click on the + next to network adapters and it will tell you your network adapter. DON'T RATE THIS 'TIL WE'RE DONE. Thanks.
You have to be on the same transformer leg Xmitter and reciver try moving the input device to a diffeent outlet. or use one of the ethernet only units to see if you have etherne tconnectivity, also there is a pricatical distance limitation of about 600 feet. are you in that range.
