I have a Sylvania 6420FE Television which is currently (stuck) in Video 2 mode. I had the remote code at one time and used a (Philips) universal remote to change the TV to that mode, but I apparently recorded the wrong code on paper. Now that I need the TV in S-Video mode, I can't seem to get the 4-digit remote codes for Sylvania TV suggested by my current universal Magnavox Remote to work. Can anybody tell me how to do this?

No other way. Buy one remote control. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the sites.

I need to know what model the Unversal remote is. if it take a 4 digit code, you can try these:  0054, 0030, 0171, 0020, 0096

Unfortunately, there are no compatible universal remotes with this television.

There is no code!!! -- Solution...You have to buy a universal remote with learning capabilities. I’ve ordered one that will not only learn off other remotes but can handle 10 components also. I got it from 10x it’s called the iconRemote control…if you call the company they will give you a discount (but you have to call them and ask) AWESOME!

Call your cable provider they may have a serch code that you can use to auto serch for the code

Yippie, I figured out a solution that worked!!! I have a univeral remote from comcast, on that remote near the bottom left is a small button that says (input) tv/vcr, press that one time and whala!! the tv video screen was gone, I had to manually change the channel from the tv channel button on the unit. once I changed the channel to 3, my universal remote worked... the button is the second one from the bottom left... I was on hold with sanyo for a long time and just kept trying on my own, so good luck!!!!

We bought a Sylvania LC420ss8 HDTV.

Our current universal remotes would not work, I followed the advice on this site and got a Sony
RM- VL600 Sony Untergrated Remote Commander, use page 16 in the manual to teach the new remote off of the remote that came with the TV. It really works. I am happy with the tv and remote.

The codes for the sylvania are the following 807, 002, 502, 115, 520, 324, 247, 402, 408, 109, 715, 717. hopefully one of these codes will help. Sherry [email protected]
