Check with Ace Hardware, they will direct you to the manufactere for a replacement charger or perhaps a place that sells aftermarket chargers...sometimes you pay more for a charger then you would for the whole drill assembly, especially if they run it on sale.

How do i charge the battery

You don;t specify make or model but most driver drills have a detachable battery that you remove and place in a charging unit to recharge. Some old units have the batteries internally and you simply plug them into the appropriate charger.

Hand drill

You could have a bad battery (most likely), bad charger or bad drill. The only way to be 100% sure is to try another battery in the drill and/or try charging the battey on another charger. If you don't have a second battery but do have a service center in your area, they can test your drill to make sure it works. Chargers either work or they don't, there are very few that can be repaired and usually have to be replaced. Batteries do go bad eventually depending on age and number of times discharged and recharged.

Drill not turningand when it does easil stop with

sounds like your battery is dying. All rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan.

The life expectancy varies dramatically based on how many times it was charged, if you left it in the charger too long, if the battery was exposed to extreme cold or it could be due to simply one or more of the cells just giving out from normal use.

Batteries are expensive. Generally about $50 each you will have to weight whether its best to buy a couple of new batts. or just get a new drill.

I recently decided to retire my 18v dewalt for the same reason between spending $120 to get a 6 year ol drill working again or just upgrading to a new with greater power, lighter weight and BETTER batteries (Li-Ion) its best to just bite the bullet and get a new unit.

There are ways to "revive" dead batteries and they sometimes will extend the life by a few weeks but the reality is once your dead your dead, there's life support but is that really any better than dead?

Look around for a good deal Amazon.com, tylertool.com are good sources. I am usually a huge fan of ebay but caution that unless you are VERY familiar with buying on ebay that you stay away from buying cordless tools there as many items are store returns. ( I work for a company that sells returned items to people that turn around and sell the junk on ebay, its wrong but it happens ALOT more than people realize)

Hope that helps
