Hi,
My panasonic 42'' plasma tv doesn't turn on. Red LED besides power button blinks 10 times and goes off for a while and then blinks 10 times againd and again.
Can some techie help me diagnose the problem? I have opened up the TV and trying to narrow it down to the faulty board. I am planning to replace the entire faulty board.
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, [Exclude the model number] in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts
SOURCE: Price Match
Greetints jr1271,
A few things need to be met. It needs to be a brick and mortar store (no online only), it needs to be in the local market area of the store you are trying to have do the match, and it needs to be in stock. If all this is met, then there should be no issue price matching for you. You would simply take your receipt into the store to price match. Remember it needs to be within the return exchange policy though!
I hope this helps.
Thank you,
Dorothy

Panasonic said "A" board,
A board SOS Detect (Explanation)
10 Blinks SOS: The voltage regulators IC5400 and IC5401 in the A board generate SUB9V and SUB5V. The 9V and 5V from these ICs are monitored by IC1100. Any abnormality on the SUB9V or SUB5V lines, triggers the shutdown circuit and the MPU shuts down the unit. The power LED blinks 10 times.
But need to measure the connection SC2, if it short, it will be the SC board.
The knowledge obtain from: Real case of repair by myself.
Information from Panasonic training manual.
SOURCE: Hi, I am planning to buy Panasonic 42" LED TV
Cnet has the best reviews, in my opinion, and here's their review:
http://www.cnet.com.au/panasonic-viera-th-l42d25a-led-lcd_comments-339302598.htm
Unfortunately, there aren't many reviews out on this model, but maybe no news is good news.
Sorry I didn't have more info, but perhaps this will help.
Also, you might talk to salespeople at Best Buy, etc.- they tend to know more about them than anyone, and might be able to help you access it.

Hi,
Thanks for your initial troubleshooting, you've mentioned that the LED light on the right didn't lighted up, that is the SS board(AKA X-sustain board) which is already faulty that's why you've encountered that kind of symptoms. You have to replace this board to resolve the issue. Click it HERE for the replacement. Double check the part/board no of your board before ordering online.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
