Viewsonic VX2835WM use to stay on after computer went into suspend. I used to turn it on after unplugging power cord and plugging back in. Then the power button flashed blue multiple time until it turned on, used to turn on and off multiple times to get it to work. Now won't turn on at all. Checked caps some are a little out of tolerance but not overly. They do not look bulged or leaking. Would it still be caps or something else entirely

There are 2 boards/parts involved with this problem

a) The power supply board:

The main problem are 4 bad/defective capacitors and shorted legs due to bleeding of soldering lead (brownish color).

1. 22uf 400v
2. 47uf 50v
3. 1uf 100v
4. 22uf 35v

You can find them near the PWM IC controller (U601). Replaced all these capacitors regardless they look good. I pulled them out off the board and tested them with my Blue ESR and capacitor tester and found 3 were defective.

Next, you need at least 97% Isoprophyl alcohol and toothbrush to clean the soldering paste. Due to overheating on the primary section / HOT section the soldering leads tend to produce brownish paste which is causing the component parts to SHORT. Concentrate at the back of the board, especially at the U102 (16-pin IC) and Q202 transistor by scrubbing them carefully. I used magnifier to make sure the legs are clean and shiny. Clean the rest of the back and some part on top of the board. Let it dry for 2 hours at least. I did 2 times this cleaning to complete the process.

b) The Main Board

The main board has 2 bad capacitors at C124 and C126. I replaced them and cleaned also the board with alcohol.

That's it. Good Luck.

They may have High ESR, you need cap meter that can measure ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance).

I have spent hours on these supplies with no luck.
I would recommend replacing it. Contact Viewsonic at viewsonic.com. Make sure it is out of the 3 year warranty.

Just don't pay more for a repair than a new one would cost.

Viewsonic VX2640W was running with the screensaver on,then suddenly went solid white. Turned off for thirty minutes then back on with same result. Unplugged from computer and turned on. Still turn

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Vx2835 screen is black

might want to unplug everything and let it sit for a half hour and try to plug everything back in. Try a different outlet maybe.

Viewsonic VX2835wm. With on/ off button sometime does not respond. Have to pull plug to "reset" it.\r\n After start working keeps working as long as I don't shut it off. Instead of switching...

Yes, it can be unstable DC voltage problem due to high AC ripple because of the bad DC filter caps, you need to inspect the power supply section for any caps with bulging top or bottom seals on the cap. Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR.
The VX series are known to use alot of bad caps as you can see in my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/VIEWSONIC/

Alos look at the caps in the main board also.

Hi every time i turn the computer off...the monitor stays on with bright blue colour on screen....then when i try to turn on the computer back on the monitor stays the same and wont show windows...

Obviously geikalok is retarded and doesn't know the difference between a monitor and a printer.

You have a vary unusual symptom. What happens when you change the resolution of your computer to match what the monitor can do? It should be able to handle 1920 x 1200 so I doubt your resolution is too high. Unfortunately I think you may be having a problem with your main board, and there is also a slight chance your power board is going bad (which can sometimes cause some unusual symptoms). You first should check to make sure the unit is no longer under the 3 year warranty (if it is, go to viewsonic.com). You can open the unit up and check the power board for capacitors that are bad but that is unusual in this model, although the power board going bad from other causes is not unusual in this model. You can measure the power voltages on the power board, but if they are OK then most likely you will have to have the main board replaced. I would recommend contacting Viewsonic.
