Can't change display or audio settings "block" symbol...

Go to Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Sears, Best Buy, or any store like that make sure you have your make and model written down with you and go get a universal remote they can run anywhere from $15 to $100. Just make sure the model of remote you buy works with your television set. The instructions are usually pretty easy and involve punching in a code - I recommend once you figure out the code you highlight it in the instructions and write it down on a small piece of paper and use scotch tape to secure it to the inside of the battery cover so you have it when you change the batteries.

SAP, Mono, Stereo, Etc. You should be able to switch this from your remote. Even universal remotes should have this button to adjust sounds. Otherwise you need to go into the TV menu (not the remote) and change it from there. The only way you can change it on those channels is to switch manually. Happens a lot on these older TVs. No worries. Very common.

On many sets, the audio channel can be switched by remote control or through a SAP switch located around the tuning panel or "on screen programming." Usually, there is a setting labeled SAP, AUDIO SELECT, B-AUDIO, MTS, or MENU. By changing the setting, you should be able to select SAP. Not all TV sets are alike, so you might want to check your instruction manual for all the details.

I had this same problem when I bought mine, except it wasn't a display model, as far as I know... I bought it on clearance, and when I opened the box and read the instructions I realized that I didn't have the replacement ring... I contacted Rival, and they were more than happy to send me one. You have to hold the component button (TV) and enter the code from http://www.rca.com/codefinder. The SKU it asks for, on my RCR312W, was under the lid from the batteries. Hope it helps.

ok, i own the 26in POS and about 7 months into ownership it becomes unresponsive to manual buttons and remote(except power). the conditions that may have caused this problem may have been heat.....BUT if you turn the ilo COMPLETELY off(no standby) for a day or two it should start working again. mine always has.

Double check against all the instructions - in particular, make sure the batteries are charged according to "before first use" spec, that the volume is turned up, and that the squelch (if fitted and not automatic) is adjusted properly. If it still doesn't work, take it back to Wal-Mart. If the product doesn't work, there's no need for the packaging to be in good condition - it's not as if they'll be needing it to resell the goods to anybody else. A.
