G'Day

A specific type is used, and they are not so easy to obtain. If you can find one that fits the socket, it will be OK to use it. If you cannot get a general replacement...

The correct part number is E3404-157001

You CAN get the correct power cord from here.

Thanks for coming to FixYa for a solution.

You can purchase one at radio shack for under $20 bucks. Just tell them you need one for you unit with the power specs, people have done this before and has worked.

Otherwise its going to be super hard finding a orginal becuase of limitations and no you cannot use just any.

Thanks for using fixya.com please do be considerate and leave a rating and postive feedback.

My akai tv does not turn on. we lost the remote and have to do it on the tv itself, I checked the power outlet and it is working. also checked that the tv cord was connected properly and it is as well.

I will say this is interesting I have 4 akai in my home and I repaired them all myself. first I would ask that you unplug the tv for 1 hour and plug it in and try with the manual pwr button.
if that does not work we wil have to go inside the case to look at the power pack and video board for what will need to be repaired9usually capacitors have been damaged).
let me know.

AKAI LCT2662

Power supply most likely... It's a common problem with this particular model and we've seen quite a number of them for exactly what you're describing.
You need to replace 19 caps in the power supply 4) 3300uf/35v, 8) 2200uf/25v, 6) 1000uf/10v, 1) 1000uf/16v and you can go a little higher in the voltage of each cap for greater reliability.
It's best to have an ESR meter also and test the remaining caps as well.
