I have a Samsung LE40C530 lcd tv. I bought it on the 2nd June 2010. I was watching it last night when, all of a sudden, it turned itself off. Now there is no power on LED and no seemingly no power. There is power to the tv (the power lead is working). Anyone have any ideas as to why a brand new tv would just stop working?

Most likely a problem with the products manual control panel on the tv. one or more of the buttons are either stuck or corrupted. Find this part and you can fix the set.

This set is getting close to 8 yrs old, chances are its not worth repairing, its been out of warranty for a really long time, look for a new TV

Hi replace the fuse in the wire connecting the mains plug. It's generally located within the 3 pin plug.
If you are lucky it maybe just a fuse blown out.

It can Have one of 2 Troubles, The Inverter Board is Defective or the Power Supply has bad Capacitors. I found 3 Capacitors known to go bad in that set. Replace the 10 Volt Capacitors with 16 Volt Caps and they will last forever.

Check the cost of repair estimate. If you have covered under General Insurance policy try to get the claim.

Ask the Engineer to identify the fault. Both LCD panel and drive electronics can not fail together. If so it must be a lightning strike!

Check the estimate value and decide. After repairs insist for warranty.

It depands if you watch say 5 hours a night times 7 nights 35 hours a week times 52 weeks a year. you be suprise.

If you bought it brand new from a dealer, I would take it back or have them come out and look at it. Less than a month old, it is still under the 1 year MFG warranty or the very best a 30 day one.
