Bissell momentum canister vacuum retractable electrical cord not retracting

Either the cord inside is caught on something or the retraction spring is broken.
Try to pull it out further, if you can feel any spring-back then most likely the cord is caught, maybe on itself.
Either way, the canister will probably have to be disassembled to fix the problem.

Bissell Hard Floor 1161 Bagless Canister Vacuum cord won't retract

You have to find a way to turn the drum the cord rolls up onto. Just move it par enough o allow it to retract. Hopefully you will hit that point before the spring lets go.

I can't return my electric line. How can i fix it? I push the bottom to return my line, but no any action.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC47's cord reel button needs to be pressed down firmly to retract the cord - you should feel a click from the button when it's pressed down far enough. Keep hold of the plug as you press the button down, and allow the cord to feed back into the machine.

If you're sure you've pressed the button down as far as it will go, and have not been able to get the cord to retract, please get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can reach the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

I have a Hoover Legacy model S3592 and the cord will not retract, it is fully extended. How can I fix this problem? Patty Lester

You may have to dis-assemble the machine to the point where you can gain access to the mechanism that retracts the cord. Then see if it can be fixed or needs replacement. Just don't lose any parts when dis-assembly, and make sure everything is put back together correctly.

I have a Kenmore Vacuum cleaner 116.24212. The retractable electric cord won't retract. How can I fix it?

The retraction mechanizm is likely jammed. Mostly likely the cord has jumped it's groove in the retraction wheel/hub. If you are good with tools there is a 70% chance you can get it to work again with a basic DCR operation. Most mechanical problems can be solved using this simple rule: Dissassemble Clean and Reassemble.

CAUTION: The retract mech has a powerful spring inside, avoid exposing. Most retract mech units are rivoted closed so consumers won't poke thier eye out.
CAUTION: UNPLUG THE UNIT

Open the unit from the bottom and the top lid of the canister should come off.
The retract mech should be obvious as it is where the cord comes into the unit.
Look for the cord being bound by iteslf either on top or underneath (lie two cordes in one groove)
Remove any binding.
If you see no debris or obsticals for the cord to retract (where it is getting stuck)
Your spring could have sprung!
Do you feel and retract at all?
Can you locate the releae mechagnism?
Does the Release button seem to function? When Pressed it should take pressure off of the cord hub.
The retract mech may need replaced. Overall the cost will be about $60 for parts.

Cord has been hyper extended, will not retract

try pulling the cord a little, while holding down the cord release button. if nothing happends and it doesn't retract, suggest taking to a service center or your local vac shop for repairs.

Electric cord won't retract

Depends on the machine. If its a Sebo K model then usually pulling on the cord will re-automatically retract the cord anyway. Any other brand and it will need to be replaced by a qualified repair.

Retractable cord

I'm assuming that you have bought the new retractable cord assembly. If you have so, I believe the cord should retract going counter-clock wise (pulling it makes it spin clockwise).

Sebo K 3 Vacuum

I had a problem with my K1 Komfort model which sounds similar to this. I initially thought the cord was too short but the machine wouldn't give out anymore and retracting was difficult. A Sebo engineer/helpline told me to pull roughly on the cord, of which I did and was rewarded with 2 metres more than what I thought I didnt have! So, perhaps if your machine isn't retracting properly, give the cord a rough pull with gloves on, or a strong grip - the cables on the K series are notorious for stopping up. Afterwards wipe the entire cord down with furniture polish; it will retract much more quickly.
