Valves out of adjustment is not likely, the starter needs to be getting 12V when cranking, if its not getting full voltage then you can not expect it to crank at full speed. If the starter spins faster when the solenoid switch is jumpered the solenoid may not have good electrical connections or it may be bad. Do not adjust the valves at this time for this symptom. Valves should be adjusted by a pro at about 250 hours of operation.

Hi there. I have a 2005 Opel Corsa Utility. At times it will not start or if it does, it has no power as it will not give a rev even if the accelleratr pedal is fully pressed

we have no OPEL in USA.
the 2 door pickup truck.?
not told at all country or what engine is there of vast.
not told if petrol or diesel engine.
starter motor is dead, silent. or just clicks or chatters?
or starter cranks fast and engine fails to start or does so 1 to 10 seconds and stalls or does not run at all ,but cranks fast.
bad starter is 8 causes.
bad engines is 50 causes
so tell what it does so we do NOT jump down the 50 deep rabbit hole unless we must. okay>?

keep in mind we can not hear your starter motor deaf
or see the crank shaft spin at all. and all that matters first.

if it does crank fast , keep the battery charged at all times
or the PCM my fail and lie to you if scanned(weak battery)
if it cranks fast then we can do tests.

wot , test is to unflood and engine, you are savvy there.
EFI cuts fuel doing that to clear a flooding (fuel)
savvy2, is use 5% throttle pedal cranked to add idle air supply for a dead IAC valve stuck closed.
are spark plugs fresh, not 18 years old ever.
if is petrol not diesel and

no engine told and is engine problem.
may engines have cam belt.
and near 140km the belt slips and cam is now way off time and spark too. and bingo will not start.or does and misfires and no engine power./
\
No engine told at all or country as each country on earth
dictates (smog laws) what engine is allowed there.
see?

eeeeegaaads vast engine world wide. wowl, HUGE
gas (petrol) and diesel both.
the choice varies by each country sold (smog laws etc)_

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla LE no power to certain fuses and circuit fuses are good car cranks but won't start

double posted and tests DONE WRONG
the battery must not be dead is first
and not testing fuse, with KEY on,
1;/2 the fuses are dead KEY off that is 100% Normal.
key on does IP cluster glow lamps as it did just like it did for 13 years?
head lamps bright key on an off both, (it must)
heater blower on high, works loud ,key on,
is the starter motor dead/? called cranking,?????????????

you said new crank , I'm sure you meant a new starter motor>?
is the starter dead? now? if yes post how to test a dead starter.
starters fail in many ways.
  • dead
  • chatters.
  • clicks,
  • makes a HUGE nasty loud bang, (engine or it seized)
  • or starter spins fast (sounds like sewing machined) but engine cranks shaft never spins (turns ) starter pinon failure.
or starter goes GRRRRRGRRRRRR and crank shaft spins but does not start.(seen and heard)

a dead starter with a good battery (charged) may crank
if you learn to crank it in NEUTRAL. (auto tranny?)
does starter work , JUMPER cable jump started?????
crank in park then try Neutral.
on stick shift cars the clutch switch bad kills cranking.

Why is my Hyundai atos prime 2012 not starting and swinging errr. Cranking

the starter motor spins he crank shaft of the engine.
this is called cranking and will start if the starter motor is dead.
and is causes for his is simple. (5 times more simple than dead engine) is there starter dead or not, the post is not clear.
cranking is first, starting is second and running and sustained run.

1: battery is dead, so charger it or jumper start cranking as see by any tow truck operator, or barrow a good battery fully charger,
ok battery good
2: Fuses blown. check all fuses.
3: IMMO or some car alarm's not happy cuts dead the starer.
4: got A/T or M/T transmission, ? not told but M'/T foot clutch bad stops the cranking the Automatic trans , PRNDL, try cranking neutral/

starter silent and dead. or clicks or chatters only but crank shaft does not spin on front of the engine, cranked.

for any car to start the starter motor just spin the engines crank shaft, heard and seen to spin is best.
if starter is dead,
battery lugs rusty, clean them .
battery is dead, or is dead because bad or altenrator(gen) IS DEAD.
if starter does work what is next ,in order
all fuses good
IMMoblizer lamp in cluster blinking and angry as the users manual told you. this must be cured nw.
the engine must be good (compression
spark must be good 1.6L all cylinders not just 1.
and fueling is last, check fuses, again and bad fuel pump relay.

This is a Troy Bilt Big Red Horse Tiller. Wont crank. new battery. ignition switch good. starter relay clicks when ignition switch turned. jumpering the relay makes the starter spin.

The starter solenoid/relay clicking can mean a bad starter solenoid/relay or bad grounding. Not knowing what engine you have as they have used Kohler, Tecumseh and Briggs and Stratton over the years. hope this helps

1999 ford explorer wont start. battery is new.wont start when jumped. it tries to turn over but barely. then only hear a click. when you turn the key the dash lights and radio lights flicker on an

Sounds like starter motor given your slow to no turnover, I assume your new battery has full charge, if not, check with meter, it may be a defective battery, or another issue with connections, did you clean cable connections when you put in new battery? I assume your engine was running properly before battery change and is not partially seized due to overheating or low oil.

Good luck,

Turn key get nothing jump starter and sylenoid just spins

i cant dope out that symptoms.

does it crank or not. be clear there.

no car starts (but my 6sp) if it dont crank.

on A/T cars cranking is a first thing. so does it.?

Solenoids do not spin, the stroke only , it a linear motion.

the Sol. moves the pinion and the main contactor switch only.

my guess is the Starter spins and the crank don\'t spin,

you hear the starter motor spin up, it sings. like bird.

that means the starter /solenoid are bad. (crude)

if the battery is good and or jumper starting off a running car.

It can just be a dirty starter pinion, clean it , repeat.

fixed many for this. i have.

battery cable lugs clean, and good. no green rust.

bad cable usually just make a loud THUNK sound. no spin.

Toro wheel horse 15-44hxl wont start

What motor do you have. Briggs & Stratton motors are notorious for the valves getting out of adjustment. When this happens they frequently develop a tight spot that is very hard for the small batteries and starters to push past. This often results in this sort of condition. Sometimes you can help it by jumping it off another battery to boost the cranking power, however it's best to get the valves into proper adjustment. If you have good connections and have ensure that your starter is getting enough power, make sure you have spark by pulling your plug (the motor should crank well even if valves are out for a spark test, it shouldn't hurt anything doing it). If you have spark and all else is well, check the valves. If they are right, you may need to re-clean the carb if you still can't get it to fire, focus on making sure the idle jet is clean. Also make sure it hasn't fallen out. These jets are tiny and can EASILY fall out of the carb and disappear unnoticed when you remove the fuel bowl to clean it. (speaking from painful, embarrassing experience)
