Hello there:
A burner doesn't work The most common problem for gas surface burners is that they get gas but don't light. This is generally caused by dirt or grease splatters on the burner itself. Residential-grade range/stove burners are round and have small holes around their perimeter to allow gas to flow out and create a round flame. The gas coming from these holes is often ignited by a small vertical row of holes on the side of the burner. If these vertical holes are clogged or obstructed, the gas can't ignite. The solution is to clean the burners thoroughly. Use a toothpick to clear the small vertical holes, then allow the burner to dry completely and try lighting it again. If it doesn't light immediately, either repeat the procedure or call a qualified appliance repair technician.

New Maytag MGC7430 gas cooktop leaks gas when lit

First it could be leaking from the control knob when it is on . There could be a leak at the base off the burner letting out gas or on the burner line . You need to get back on to your installer or where you purchased the cook top . This basic gas fitting leak detection .

Gas ignitor keeps trying to ignite after stove is off.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. On your cook-top the gas igniters are cycled on and off by a ceramic and copper switch on the front of each of the gas valves. Some of them are in wired Series ...i.e any burner on will cycle all igniters on the cook top and some of them are in Parallel where individual burners are controlled by each gas burner control knob. Inside these tiny ceramic switches there is a flat thin strip of copper that as the gas valve is rotated a cam of the switch actuates pushes the copper strip against the fixed contact. Those little strips over time either break or get bent and stay against the fixed contact. Hence you have and igniter on when the burner control is off. The only fix is to find out which little ceramic switch on the front of the gas valve is stuck. You do it with an Ohm meter POWER off. They all should read open with the burner controls off. The one that reads continuity across the 2 wires is the bad switch.

Thanks for Choosing FixYa.

I cleaned the gas top and the two left side burners do not ignite

Take the burners out, then take a needle and stick in the small hole where the gas comes thru.

My ignitor on my ge cooktop keeps clicking slowly in off mode

As it relates to 5 burner gas cooktop Model Number JGP 963SEJ1SS
First - Ignite the flame then reduce the flame to between low and medium.  If the igniter continues to click, you most likely have a contact switch issue related to the problem burner.
Unplug the cook top and turn off the gas.  After the gas is turned off, disconnect the gas line.
Remove the cook top.

Unscrew and Remove ALL of the burner bases by lifting them up.  The ceramic igniters may be difficult to remove but they will come loose if worked out slowly.
Pull of the wire connected to the igniter.
Remove to cook top top plate from the base, exposing the internal gas valves and wiring.
All of the burners are wired in parallel.   Lift off and unsnap the casing of the problem igniter switch.  The repair may require something as simple as, 1- cleaning the contact strips, or 2- slightly bending the non stationary contact strip to keep it from coming in contact with the stationary contact when in the off position, or 3- replacing the switch.
Unless you comfortable and understand how electric systems and switches work, this is a job for a qualified repair person.

Cooktop's electronic igniter started clicking all by itself

Check to make sure your burner caps are aligned. I had this problem, and it turned out one of my burner caps was slightly askew. Putting it level fixed the problem.
