Yes you can use the Scanner with Vista O/, However you will not be able to use the same software or Icon like you did before in XP

Once you connect the Scanner to Vista O/S, it will install the pre-installed Drivers for this Scanner.

You will have to use Application programs to SCan like MS Paintbrush, or Windows Gallery or Microsoft Image Edition or PICASA etc.

Or you can also open Control panel and click on SCanners and Camera and double click on the Visioneer Scanner to use it.

Visioneer Scanner Drivers/Software for Vista are not yet available from the manufacturers so this is workaroud for you to use your scanner

I have upgraded to Windows 7. Where can I get drivers for Visioneer One Touch 8920 Scanner?

You can't. This is an older model, "end of life" per Visioneer, and they never released drivers for any system later than XP. If the XP drivers don't work, you'll need to replace the scanner with a newer model.

I am in need of drivers that will allow me to use my Visioneer 8920 USB scanner in a Windows 7 OS. Any help is really appreciated!

I'm afraid that won't happen. Visioneer's drivers are only good through XP Service Pack 1; they won't even support XP Service Pack 2 due to the increase in security measures. There is no Windows 7 driver (or Vista, for that matter) and they don't plan on developing/releasing one as the product is discontinued.

Sorry...but hope that was helpful.

How do I scan slides with the Visioneer 8920?

In the Twain window at the top is a dropdown menu where you can select 35mm slides. That gives you two choices of resolution at 1200 or at 2700 dpi, plus a custom setting option.

Have the drivers been updated for Visioneer Onetouch 8920 scanner

Below is a link to the list  of the only scanners that VISIONEER has written a Vista driver for(and not likly to write any more for former scaners.)  Your model in not on that list. Unless, for some reason , they decide to write a Vista driver, you will never bve ableo to use that scanner with the Vista  OS. No one else will ever write one either.     Please don't rate me badly for telling the whole truth even thought you may not like it.  http://support.visioneer.com/products/tools/os/vista.asp

The below link is where I took the followign from:
http://support.visioneer.com/UK/products/tools/OS/
As Microsoft continues to release new versions of it's Windows Operating System, the requirements for peripherals and software change. Visioneer scanners are designed to leverage the tools and features included with the operating systems that are current when products are released. When feasible, we develop scanner drivers for new versions of Windows. On the day Windows XP was released, Visioneer had more scanners qualified to wear the Designed for Windows XP logo than any other scanner maker. In spite of our best efforts, major changes in the underlying architecture of Windows XP make it impossible to write new drivers for many of our older model scanners.   Visioneer posts the last release of drivers on each Product's Homepage and provides online support for older products. Scanners designed to work with older versions of Windows may not function properly after upgrading your computer's operating system.   We offer an industry leading upgrade program, giving a 25% discount from our online scanner store for customers that return their old unit to ensure proper disposal as part of our environmental recycling program.
