How do you print custom size paper with epson 710 artisan? I am using MSWord, trying to print on a custom 5.25 x 5.25 size paper. I load into the top tray. File - Print - Properties - put all info in the print pop up box. Source gives option of front tray and CD/DVD. I have it set on front tray. Size is set to user defined (525). When I print, it pulls from the bottom tray with regular paper. If I take the regular paper out it will continue to try and feed and then give me an error message saying paper is out or incorrect size. If I change the paper setting to photo tray 4 x 6, it still will pull from regular paper on bottom tray. Nothing seems to make it know to pull from the top tray. Is there something I'm supposed to do to the tray itself? Thanks

WD-40 works the best, as most parts would not be damaged by it. Try to figure out by looking at it when it is printing what parts are rotating (this may or may not require some disassembly). If you decide to spray something that rotates (like the hubs of the little rubber wheels that move the paper), be careful to use it sparingly and don't spray it all over everything. A spray of 1/100 of a second or less will usually do the job. Good luck.

If its not a setting problem, it may not be communicating with your computer properly, try turning it off, wait a little while and turn it back on, if that doesn't work delete your printer off your computer and re install it, Is it the default printer on your computer? some times if you run more than one printer from your computer there's a conflict which can make it behave in weird and wonderful ways.

YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT THE ORIENTATION OF THE DOCUMENT YOU ARE SENDING IS NOT SET FOR LANDSCAPE OR PORTRAIT WHICH IS OPPOSITE TO THE PAPER LOADED.

The next step it to test each sensor, both mechanically and electrically. Get really good light on the sensors, sometimes little hairs cause a false read. Verify that each sensor opens and closes electrically when actuated.

test it with 2 pages of text, one page with an "A" on it, then the 2nd page with a "B" on it. once they print out, flip them over and run them thru again to see which side of the paper is being printed on during a pass thru the printer.

Hello, Your printer makes a "grinding sound". This is usually due to two things:
1. A dirty printhead rail. It is either ink residue or dry. Try gently cleaning it with some water.
2. Paper pick up roller(s) not picking up. Clean them with a damp terry cloth towel or a multi-purpose cleaner.

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results..
