Is there a way to get a list on paper of the fonts in the Printmaster Platimus 2.0 program? I do a lot of newsletters and it is Sooooo time consuming to go down thru the list on the computer each time I need to change or select a font. Sometime, it even freezes up while I search for the one I want to use. Is there a way to make the list on my own printer from the program. Thanks!

Just to make sure I understand what you are asking.

You are wanting a list of each font, printed to a piece of paper, so that you can scan the list and find the one you want, right?

or

You want a list of each font, printed in that particular font, as a visual reference, onto a piece of paper.

You realize that PrintMaster has THOUSANDS of fonts, right? I think that 2.0 has around 5000. Even if you were to be able to fit 50 lines to a page at a specific size, you are still looking at more than 100 pages!

If I may make a suggestion for an alternative. There are several font management / view utilities that are available.

FontXplorer [ moonsoftware.com/fxplorer.asp ] will likely be the easiest solution to view multiple fonts at the same time, but it doesn't run under Windows 7.

Opcion Font Viewer [ opcion.sourceforge.net ] runs as a java program, and therefore should be platform independent. Try this one if running Windows 7.

There is a review of a slew of managers at Smashing Magazine
[ smashingmagazine.com/2008/09/05/25-font-management-tools-reviewed/ ] that have been reviewed, including the 2 posted above.

Using a manager will allow you to view the fonts much faster than turning page after page of printed paper. The 2 mentioned above are also free.

How do I remove fonts from The Printshop 23.1?

Windows programs install fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. The fonts in that folder are accessible by all Windows programs - including Broderbund programs. However, older versions of Print Shop and PrintMaster are designed to use ONLY *.ttf fonts . So, the only fonts that those Broderbund programs can access in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder are *.ttf fonts.

NOTE: Since both Print Shop 2.0 & 3.0 and PrintMaster 2.0, 2011 and 2012 do not access fonts from Broderbund's Core Fonts folder, the following information does not apply to those versions of Print Shop and Printmaster.

Older versions of Print Shop and PrintMaster install fonts in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder. The fonts installed in that folder are accessible ONLY in Broderbund programs and are NOT accessible in other Windows programs.

Some newer versions of Print Shop and PrintMaster install shortcuts for some (but not all) Broderbund fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. When shortcuts for Broderbund fonts are installed in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, those fonts will be accessible in all Windows programs.

For all other Broderbund fonts - which don't have a shortcut in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder - the most efficient way to use those fonts in other Windows programs would be to manually install those fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.

To install Broderbund fonts into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder, do this:

WinXP & WinVista:

1. Open the C:\Windows\Fonts folder (either by going to Control Panel then clicking on 'Fonts' or by opening Windows Explorer then selecting the C:\Windows\Fonts folder)

2. When the Fonts window opens, click on 'File' in the menubar then click on 'Install New Font' in the menu that drops down.

3. When the Add Fonts window opens, click in the box next to 'Copy fonts to Font folder' (to remove the checkmark).

NOTE: When the checkmark is removed from the box next to 'Copy fonts to Font folder', the end result will be one font file in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder and a shortcut to that font file in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. If the checkmark is not removed, you will end up with two identical font files - one in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder and one in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder. Since it's not absolutely necessary to have font files in both folders, you can save some hard drive space by making sure that the checkmark is removed from the box next to 'Copy fonts to Font folder'.

4. Using the Folders: box on the bottom left side of the Add Fonts window, navigate to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder. Then, double-click on the Core Fonts folder.

6. After the font names are displayed, click on the name of the font you want to install, then click on OK. After the font is installed, it should appear in the fonts lists for all of your installed software.

If you don't mind having two identical font files on your hard drive, you can install Broderbund fonts by simply copying the font file from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Broderbund\Core Fonts folder to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.

Windows 7:

Either simply copy the font file to the C:\Windows\Fonts folder or right click on the font file then select 'Install' from the menu that drops down.

Win98 or WinME:

WARNING: If you are using Win98 or WinME, you will want to be sure to NOT have more than 750 fonts installed in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder - because more than 750 installed fonts on Win98 or WinME can cause a multitude of problems.

My problem is printing a section of a saved jpg. graphic. All parts of the poster print correctly except for one section that prints two letters in block instead of the arched shape of the text block. ...

I haven't used that version of printmaster but if you can see it correctly on the screen but not when printed I would check the name of the font used and then check to see if that font is installed in windows. Go to the font folder and look for it. If i recall PrintMaster comes with some fonts that are not included in windows. You can add fonts to windows btw.

I have Printmaster 10 and 17. On 10, I can print to the edges of the labels and others things, on 17 I can't. I know that I reconfigured 10 to do this, but it was years ago and I can't remember the step...

Custom Paper Wizard PrintMaster® 17 Gold and Platinum include a Custom Paper Wizard that allows you to add new or unsupported paper stock to PrintMaster® for printing labels, stickers, envelopes, half-fold greeting cards, note cards, business cards and postcards. The remainder of this note describes how to use the Custom Paper Wizard. Follow the procedure below to add a new or unsupported paper stock to PrintMaster® 17 Gold or Platinum using the Custom Paper Wizard.

NOTE: The options that appear in the Custom Paper Wizard vary depending on the project type for which you are creating new paper stock.
  1. In the PrintMaster® Design Workspace, click Tools from the menu bar, select Custom Paper Wizard and click New Custom Paper. The Custom Paper Wizard window will open.
  2. In the Select Stock Type: list box, select the appropriate project type (Label, Sticker, Business Card, Envelope, 1/2-Fold Greeting Card, Note Card or Postcard) and click Next.
  3. If creating a Label or Sticker paper stock, select the label type. An example of the selected label type will appear on the right.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the screen that appears, select the similar stock type and enter the paper height, width and margins (if instructed to do so).

NOTE: The Example box at the bottom of the Custom Paper Wizard window will explain what information is needed for the selected field (e.g., Paper Width, Left Margin, etc.) with both text and a diagram. The Example box on the left side of the Custom Paper Wizard window will show an example of the new paper stock as the fields are completed.

  6. Depending on the paper stock, the "Contains mid-page perforation" box may be active. If the paper stock that is added has a mid-page perforation, click once in the empty box to check it.
  7. Enter a Name for the new paper stock in the Name of stock: field and click Next. This name will identify the added stock type and will appear when creating a new project (e.g., Label, 1/2-Fold Greeting Card, etc.).

NOTE: If adding a new paper stock for an Envelope project type, click Finish. A message will appear indicating that the new stock has been added. Click OK. The new envelope paper stock can be used when creating a new Envelope project.

  8. The next screen or screens that show will depend on the project type for which the new paper stock is added. Enter the needed information and click Finish. A message will appear stating that the new paper stock has been added.
  9. Click OK.
  10. To access the new paper stock, create a new project that uses the stock type (Label, 1/2-Fold Greeting Card, etc.) and select the name of the new stock entered in Step 7 (above) from the available stock list.
NOTE: If the paper stock that is added does not display in the list, click or go to Custom Paper Stock Does Not Display (Technical Note ID: 43399) for additional information.

I did a 4 page newsletter and saved it. Now when I open the newsletter just one page comes up with no place to turn the page and no way to enlarge the page.

Yes you are right that the software is not doing its best. Its a failure from Printmaster Platinum 18, check out if it is under trial period, then upgrade.
Or it might be the case with Printmaster not compatible with Vista. Otherwise use a different software.

Please vote the solution.
