Question about Nordic Track NordicTrack Treadmill, A2550

9 Answers

C2155 treadmill 1 1/2 yrs old, Nordic track. Panel lights up when the key is attached, beeps a triple beep sound fast about every 15 seconds? Keeps beeping when any of the buttons are pushed and won't start any program or any belt movement? I reset it, unplugged it still no change? Any suggestions?

Thanks. Disconnecting the i-fit connector to the console fixed my beeping and not working problem with Reebok Treadmill also.

Thank God for Google & all you lovely people that commented on this issue. Disconnecting the ifit worked for us too! All I did was disconnect the glue & cable, works fine again! Thank you all!

Worked like a charm. Nordictrack wanted 500.00 for a new console. Didnt use the ifit anyway.

I had the same problem with my Nordic track. I pressed every button until I found the one that did not beep. The one that does not beep is stuck. My problem was with the Ifit button. The first few times I would push the bad button until it started beeping. That worked for awhile (couple of weeks but started up again). I disconnected the Ifit unit and now the thing work fine except for Ifit which I never used. Nordic track wanted to sell me a new console which cost more than the machine.

How do you disconnect the Ifit? I am having the same problem.

  • spamslisher Dec 07, 2010

Does every button beep except for one of the IFIT buttons? If so it probably is the same problem.
First I removed the console from the treadmill and placed it on a table with the console upside down I removed the screws and opened the console. I located the IFIT unit and found the ribbon of wires that connected to the main board. I disconnected the ribbon from the main board. I left the IFIT in the console after it was disconnected just so the console looks normal. After that I put it all back together. Hopefully this helps you. It probably took 45-60 mins to do all this.

  • habner Dec 08, 2010

Thanks for your quick reply. I really appreciate the help. We disconnected the IFIT and put everything back together, but we seem to have created a new problem. Now the incline keeps going up and down like it does when it is resetting itself. It goes all the way up and then back down then the console flashes and beeps and then it starts the whole process over again. What have we done?

  • spamslisher Dec 08, 2010

I'm not sure since I have never had that problem. I'm guess maybe the incline button got stuck when you put it back together. I would try pressing the incline button to see if it is jammed. If that does not work I would take it apart and try again. Good luck.

  • jtmadcap Jan 08, 2011

Thanks a bunch this was the exact same problem I had. Disconnected the Ifit unit and everything is working again.

  • qanine Jan 14, 2011

Mine had exactly the same problem. Removed the iFit circuit board and presto! Works again.

  • Dirtone Feb 27, 2011

Thanks for the I-Fit Disconnect info. It took me about 15 min.-the machine runs great except for the I-Fit which we didn't use anyway. The 800 customer service wanted us to purchase a new console for $424!!! I'm sure there's another solution to the I-Fit problem, but they just don't want to address it.

Here is how you disconnect the iFit from the main board. You will need a medium and small size phillips head screwdrivers and a flashlight. MOST IMPORTANT: UNPLUG THE TREADMILL BEFORE YOU BEGIN. Unscrew the multiple screws under the main console. You will have to be completely under it to do so. There are numerous screws all around it that are around the edge. Next, look under the handle bars and you will see two sets of screws. Completely unscrew the screw on each handle bar that is closest to the main console. Then partially unscrew the screw on each handle bar that is the furthest away from the main console. At this point you should be able to pry the cover away starting at the top. You will still have wires on both sides that will keep the cover from coming completely off. For the next part, you will need a flashlight. Once you have tilted the cover open, look for the iFit board that is directly in back of the slot where you would insert an iFit workout card. The iFit board is surrounded by a square holder that has a two-wire connector that is screwed to it. Unscrew it using the smaller head phillips screwdriver. Then lift one side of the square holder so that you can remove the iFit board from it. At this point the only thing connecting the iFit board to the main board is a flat cable. However both ends have been secured in place with hot glue. To remove the flat cable, slowly work the end that is connected to the main board back and forth until it is disconnected. Throw away the cable and iFit board. To test your work, place the top panel back in place without screwing it in. Plug the treadmill power cord back in and turn on the treadmill back on. It will now function without the annoying beeps.

Thanks for the advice. I don't usually do this kind of thing but this worked. I did it a bit differently. I removed the panel from the treadmill first, then unscrewed the front panel. To disconnect the iFit, I followed the ribbon connector to the end and unplugged it from the motherboard. Took maybe 20 minutes to do the whole thing. Thanks again. Saved me a bunch of dollars.

Jack - I had the same problem with my c2500 treadmill. It stopped working and started to beep every 10 seconds or so. Most of the so-called experts recommended replacing the entire console for about $500. After following your advice to the tee, my treadmill now runs again and there's no more beeping. It was easy with a cordless screwdriver and only took about 10 minutes. I never used the ifit function, so no loss there.
I joined fixya just to thank you. So thanks! You saved the day...

The standard calibration procedure to calibrate an Icon treadmill is done by holding down the speed up and stop keys while inserting the safety key or putting the key in place (if magnetic). If your keypad is not responding, contact Iconservice dept. because your treadmill keypad has failed or the console computer has failed. In these cases, the keypad can be replaced in limited instances or the console has to be replaced. Call them @ 1-877-993-7999

I had experiences the same problem and resolved it by disconnecting the ribbon cable from the iFit output. I can't believe we were about to spend a few hundred dollars for a new console! Thank you so much for the advice.

Thanks for the suggestions. My Nordic Track C2500 would turn on, but continue beeping every 10 seconds or so, or if a button was pressed. The iFit button (the down button) appeared to be stuck. So pressing it (no beep on that one) appeared to release the console. If it happens again I plan to unplug the iFit from the console as suggested by Spamslisher. Thank you!

I had experienced a similar problem and resolved it by disconnecting just the ribbon cable from the iFit output to the processor board input. It was not necessary to remove the iFit board from the unit.

The circuit board is fried. It's too expensive to have fixed if the warranty is expired. You can try and find a used display from ebay or craigslist. It would be an easy swap.

BUYER BEWARE!! I purchased the Nordic Track C2500 in 2009 and after 2 years of moderate usage (105 lb women walking 3-4 times a week) the console stopped working. None of the buttons respond and it beeps...

1. Power

o 1

Ensure that the treadmill is plugged into a grounded outlet using the correct surge suppressor. Use a UL 1449 suppressor listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS). It must be rated for 15 amps and 120 volts AC. Secure the services of an electrician if the outlet is not grounded, or move the Proform treadmill near a grounded outlet. Do not use an extension cord.

o 2

Insert the safety key fully into the display. Treadmills with keys are designed not to turn on without the safety key in place.

o 3

Find the circuit breaker on the front of the frame and make sure it is not tripped. The circuit breaker is a vertical switch on the 540S and a horizontal switch on the 540 Interactive Trainer. Press it to the "Reset" position, which will be labeled.
2. Reed Switch

o 1

Unplug the treadmill and remove the safety key.

o 2

Move the upright base of the treadmill down with the help of another person and lift the uprights so that you can get to the underside of the console. Use a Phillips screwdriver with at least a 5-inch shaft to remove the screws. There are five hood screws on the 540 Interactive trainer and four screws on the 540S.

o 3

Remove the motor hood to get to the small reed switch by pivoting the hood off the frame. Find the reed switch and magnet, which are on the left side of the pulley for both models.

o 4

Turn the pulley with your hand until the reed switch aligns with the magnet. There should be 1/8-inch gap between the two. Fix the distance so that it is 1/8 inch by loosening the reed switch screw and sliding it to the correct distance. Tighten the screw.

o 5

Reverse the directions to put the hood back on and the treadmill upright in the original position.

Nordic track commercial 1300 manual

It sounds like reed switch inside the side panel located on the frame by the large pulley either needs to be adjusted or replaced. Try adjusting the switch first the clearance between the switch and large pulley magnet will be 1/8" if you have the same result then replace the switch.

NordicTrack Z7xi treadmill console buttons not working

Hello there. It sounds as if you may have a button stuck on your console. Thus not allowing any other buttons to be pushed. (i.e. the 4 beeps). This is usually caused by the i-fit buttons (silver buttons on the front). If the machine is only 4 months old you should still be under warranty (1 year) I believe. This problem in most instances requires the console be replaced. You can contact nordictrack through iconservice.com or by using the number on the fron of your users manual.
Good Luck! Tim
