DVR LOST ALL RECORDINGS (EVEN PROTECTED RECORDINGS), ALL HISTORY OF SEARCHES. TALKED WITH DISH & THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. RECORDED SEVERAL MORE PROGRAMS & IT DELETED THOSE AS WELL...MAYBE DURING THE NIGHTLY UPDATE? ANY IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON? ALSO, IT HAS BEEN "FREEZING" UP LATELY WHEN CHANGING CHANNELS, ETC. ARE THESE RELATED PROBLEMS? CAN WE GET OUR RECORDED PROGRAMMING BACK?

Recover deleted history

Hi there Janice, If you have a Hopper system and have deleted all of your recordings, you may recuperate them by pressing 'Menu' on your remote, selecting 'DVR' then 'My recordings' and 'Deleted Recordings' Once you are in the 'Deleted Recordings Screen' you have the option to select 'Restore' (this option will allow you to restore all Deleted Recordings) Unfortunately no other receiver has the capacity to restore deleted recordings.

We keep losing shows! They record just fine, but then a few have disappeared, even when protected. Any ideas where they might be, and/or how to keep this from happening?

Check to see how full you DVR is. This happened to us and our DVR was filled up. When that happens the DVR starts to delete stuff, even protected things. It will first delete non-protected shows and then if there are none left to delete and room is still needed, it will delete other shows. Not sure, or can't remember how it prioritizes the deletion but it happens.
Check how full you DVR is and that may be where your problem lies.

Dish 510 DVR that wont record properly or play paused TV show

Make sure that the software is correct. Should be P4.07
you can go into the DVR and replace the hard drive but I would suggest getting Dish Home Plan, Replace the receiver and then cancel the Home Plan. Talk to Dish Network and they will work with you.

How do I find History on DVR & retrieve my protected recordings?

In order to find your protected recording in the history on your DVR, you would simply press the button specifically labeled, "DVR" on your DISH Network remote, the DISH On Demand screen will then come on your tv, proceed by selecting "My recordings," on the "My Recordings" screen you will then select the "Sort" option. Once you have selected the sort option it will allow you to specify how you want the recordings sorted- the option you would want to select is, "Protected." All protected & unprotected recordings lost - possibly moved to History. In My Recordings, one program was listed - a basketball game that we did not record. A day or two before these things happened,...

There are no history for your recordings, whatever shows up in your recording list is what you have. if this did this on its own then it sounds as if you have hard drive failure on your dvr and it will need to be replaced. Your protected events should never delete unless there is failure or deleted by a user.

Want to copy shows recorded to DVR onto computer Howto...

Unfortunately as a Dish Network Employee I must inform you that acording to Dish that is not possible however a good computer tech may be able to help you with a work around but keep in mind that if any damage occurs to the receiver that Dish will charge you for the receiver. When you do upgrade check into the receiver models that have an expansion port for an external hard drive. A 211 which is a solo hidefinition receiver without DVR can have a port activated for as one time charge of 39.99 and you can use the hard drive you supply as the DVR. Yoiu also will not be accessed the 5.98 DVR fee every month and if the receiver needs replacing you still have your recordings. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

I lost 60 hrs. of recording time in less than 24 hrs. on VIP 622

Remove all the External Storage devices, make sure that you Un-Plug them Completely including their Power. After Resting the Dish Receiver, Plug-In everything back on and try.

All recorded programs lost

when tech support says they've never heard of a problem like this they are either inexperienced or lying. there was most likely a small power surge that caused it to reset like that. if the problem persists, insist on a replacement reciever and consider getting a computer surge protector with a small battery back-up.
