Can you provide guidance on how to install this microwave? Trying to decide if I should pay $120 for the store to install.

Installation of an over the range microwave is not a very difficult task as long as electrical work to provide power is not needed. If no outlet exists then an electrician will be required.

Tools that may be needed for the installation include a cordless drill, drill bit, measuring tape, masking tape, stud finder, razor knife, pencil.

A template is commonly provided for mounting hole locations that need to be drilled in the cabinet. These holes are the top mounts.

An additional template for the wall bracket is normally supplied as well. Here you will need the stud finder, it is important to locate the studs and mount the wall bracket to them.

The wall bracket serves as the bottom mount and aids in the final mounting of the microwave.

Depending on the oven's size and weight a helper may be needed to complete the installation.

Remember to be safe first and seek advice/help with any step you are unsure about.

Good luck.

Hello -

All cautions I have seen regarding repairing a microwave is to have it serviced by a repair technician authorized to repair one's make of microwave oven.

I suggest you find a repair business in your area which is authorized to repair Sharp brand microwaves. You then can make a telephone call to explain the problem with your microwave and ask if it can be repaired and even find out an estimate of the repair cost before you decide to take the microwave in for repair. You can then decide if you wish to pay for the repair or purchase a good quality replacement.

If you reside in the USA, this website should be able to identify nearby authorized repair businesses in your area:

Note: If you wish to research microwave oven brands which may make good replacements, Consumer Reports magazine provides reliable reviews. This is the link to the 2017 Consumer Reports Microwave Buying Guide:

I am a librarian by profession. We receive questions about reliable appliance review sources all the time.

Best wishes.

How To Change The Bulb In An Advantium 900 Watt Microwave

You'll need to open the door, and remove the screws that hold the microwave face to the cabinet face.
Next, you'll need to remove the microwave from the enclosure. Remove the metal shroud that encases the microwave, and the bulb may then be replaced. Reversing the process gets you back to where you started.
After the second time of pulling the microwave out, I measured and cut a hole in the sheet metal shroud, larger than the access to the light fixture. I bought a metal electrical box cover, and used sheet metal screws to completely cover the hole. This allows me to slide the microwave out about 6" to access the light, instead of the lengthy process of removing the microwave entirely. If you decide to do this, I recommend that you mark the sheet metal while the shroud is loosely fit on the microwave, and cutting your hole away from the microwave, to avoid getting metal filings into the microwave.
Your bulb is a 120 volt halogen, 35 watts with a GY8.6 base. I bought mine at Lowe's, and their item number is 15797, manufactured for Bright Effects. When installing the new bulb, be careful not to touch the bulb, as the oil on your fingers is enough to degrade the bulb, and it will not last as long as it should. Instead, wrap the bulb in toilet paper or a paper towel, leaving the terminals on the base protruding.
Sorry for the bad news, but glad that I could offer a better alternative. By the way, a technician will do the same thing, without the hole, for about $200.

The electricty to my home went out when it came back on the advantium reads demo & I can't get it back to regular settings.

Getting appliances out of demo mode usually involves touching a special sequence or a combination of buttons. You might call an appliance store that sells that brand and ask a salesman for some guidance.

Light inside the microwave is out.

Hello, This is a repeat of a previous post I made some time ago. It is for your make/model, if it is built in.... Mine is installed also, and I've had to replace the bulb twice. I wised up the second time and installed an access hole where I can pull my microwave out about 6" and access the bulb. I use a 35 watt 120v halogen bulb, with a GY 8.6 base, Lowe's part number 15797. If your's is different, the specs will be stamped on the metal beside the reflector when you remove the sheetmetal. You have to remove the microwave completely from the cabinet and remove the sheetmetal case that surrounds the entire unit. You can then access the lamp socket by looking in from the top. The first time, I took out the reflector with the socket. The bulb can be replaced by removing the two small screws adjacent to the socket on top of the reflector. My access port is a hole cut into the top. I cover the hole with a piece of sheetmetal and two sheetmetal screws. Seems to work just fine. If you do decide to cut a hole, do so with the metal enclosure off and away from the microwave to avoid getting any metal shavings into the machine! If, however, yours is an over the stove type, it may be possible to remove the front grille and replace the lamp.
