SOURCE: Dehumidifier runs but does not extract water

Found out about the filter on the left side of the unit. Mine was caked with dirt and would not allow air to pass. Cleaned with nozzle from vacuum and it works great now.

Most likely the fan motor is broke. I have seen several units with bad fan motors.

SOURCE: Dehumidifier only two years old now doesn't

Problem is that you bought a dehumidifier made by the Korean/Chinese manufacturer LG.
Search the web and you will find that you are just one of many whose dehumidifier worked the first year but now draws no water out of the air even though it makes all the right fan and compressor noises.
Most common problem is that all the Freon refrigerant escaped, apparently because the copper tubing cracked and leaked. Penguins beware, there goes the Ozone Hole!
It cost me $14 and an afternoon of investigation and testing of my LG 504EL dehumidifier to figure this out. The fix-it web site "Just Answers" said that it wasn't worth fixing after I described all the symptoms. Tomorrow I will go to the local LG fix-it shop and try to get a replacement to tide me over until I can find a reliable dehumidifier.
Sadly, last Fall I took my 25 year old Westinghouse (made in America) dehumidifier to the dump. Even though it needed me to tune it up every year or two, at least I could fix it and it kept on working for 25 years.
Good luck!

Machine runs, but no water is coming out into the bucket

There are several reasons this may be happening. The 2 primary reasons are the humidity extraction level is set to high. Lower it to 35% . The lower the setting, the more moisture/humidity is extracted from the air. The higher the setting, the less if any moisture/humidity will be extracted from the air.
On most humidifiers the fan runs almost constantly while in operation. The idea is to continually move the air around and when the unit senses a rise in humidity, above what you have it set on, the compressor will turn ON to extract that humidity.

The 2nd thing that causes the problem is a dirty of clogged intake air filter. Which is easily solved by removing and cleaning the filter. Which should be done at least every 2 weeks, while the dehumidifier is in operation.

I said there were 2 reasons. Actually, there is a 3rd. Not enough clear air space all around the dehumidifier. A minimum of 12" should be maintained during operation.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

A PUDDLE OF WATER FORMS UNDER MY DEHUMIDIFIER WHEN IT IS RUNNING.

Dehumidifiers have a container that holds the water the the unit extracts from the air. If that container is full or not placed correctly, the water will leak out of the unit.

Dehumidifier headaches!

There are three things that must be working to extract water. The 'coil' (a finned metal part that allows air passage) if it's filled with dust and obstructions, no air can move...no water. There is a blower motor that mus move the air. If it is seized up an not blowing air...very little or no water. The compressor uses condensation from the air moving across its coils (like the moisture than forms on a cold glass on a humid day) to extract the water from the air. If it's not working then no water.
So, if there is air blowing out of the dehumidifier the blower is working. If the air is room temp the compressor is not working. If it's real hot air, and the humidifier keeps cycling on and off quickly, the coil is dirty. Those are the 3 things that need to be working.

My kenmore 50 pint dehumidifier 54501 runs but it does not taking in water

You need to determine what's "running". Here's why: There are three things that must be working to extract water. The 'coil' (a finned metal part that needs air to flow across its surface) may be filled with dust and obstructions, so no air can move...then no water. There is a blower motor that must move the air. If it is seized up and not blowing air...very little or no water. The compressor creates condensation from air moving across the coil (like the moisture than forms on an ice filled glass on a humid day) to extract the water from the air. If it's not working then no water.
So, if there is air blowing out of the dehumidifier the blower is working. If the air is room temp the compressor is not working. If it's real hot air, and the humidifier keeps cycling on and off quickly, the coil is dirty. Those are the 3 things that need to be working.

The dehumidifier runs a long time & does not remove much water.

Hi,
If you haven't done so already, try removing and cleaning the inlet filter screen which is almost certainly just behing the inlet grille. If this is blocked with fluff then no moist air will get to the cold pipes, so little or no water will be extracted.

Hope this helps. If this "fixes ya", I'd appreciate a rating for my reply, If not, please delay the rating and add a comment with any extra info you have and I will try to think of something else.
