You can try putting dishwasher in dry cycle and let it heat up enough to soften the plastic so you can pull it off. otherwise a new element.

How do I remove melted plastic from top stove burner, kitchen aid oven/stove, branch new

Clean the stove so all food residue is removed. Take a single blade razor blade and very slowly scrape the edges of the melted plastic. Blade should be held at a low angle, and only a small amount should be cut away at a time. It will take time, but the plastic will come off.

Once clean, use the manufacturer approved cleaner to clearn the area.

You may want to try to turn the burner on for about 10 seconds on high, and then off to help soften the plastic. Be careful to not burn yourself.

Like so many others, I am experiencing a problem with my GE dishwasher's smartdispense. I have ALWAYS used the SAME detergent(Cascade Complete)and still have the gumming-up issue. I noticed that the...

I had the same problem as you also using Cascade Complete. It turned to a wet solid and completely cloged up. I have spent 3 days cleaning it and now have it working again. I had to spoon out what I could, but the purge method still would not wash through. I started putting in water, running a thick plastic coated wire in and moving it around. Then opened and closed the door to slosh thinks around, then took a small scoop to clear out the water and gel clumps. I kept repeating until tired. Added more water and let it set over night and started again the next day. Once the water started looking clear after soaking and digging with the wire. I ran the purge technique listed in an earlier post, and the blockage finally cleared. It now is working again. I plan to keep a close eye in the future and run the purge as a regular maintence on ocassion when the add detergent light comes on. (I wonder if Cascade changed the formula that caused this gelling, or if they have a product issue).

Water will not drain. Motor is working. Drain does not appear to be clogged.

GE has equipped many of their dishwashers with a crappy anti-syphon ball. The problem with this is that they often relocate and clog the drain. To fix it, syphon all the water out of the basin of the diswasher and remove the kick plate. Open the dishwasher and remove the 1/4" hex head screw behind the food screen and remove the spray arm by prying the plastic clip on the back side (be careful not to break it). Then remove the two 1/4" hex head screws in the plastic basket and remove it. Remove the two screws that hold the dishwasher to the countertop and slide the dishwasher out. There is a large manilla colored hose with a huge hose clamp on it. Have plenty of rags on hand because this part gets messy. Remove the hose clamp and pull this area open. A small white plastic ball should roll out. Replace the hose clamp and slide the dishwasher back into place (clean up all the water that escaped first, and make sure you have turned off the power to the dishwasher before beginning). Drop the ball into the small tube on the left side under where the plastic basket goes. Installation is reverse of removal.

Intake/drain light is flashing

When this happens with my dishwasher it usually means that the drain is clogged with food/debris.  To fix 1) remove bottom dish rack from machine 2) using a small cup, scoop out as much water as possible 3) remove inlet drain cover and unsnap the plastic insert and remove 4) rinse the plastic part and reinstall 5) start machine 6) if light still flashes, repeat steps 3 4 and 5 and restart

Dishwasher safe?

I would not reccomend it. The water, soap etc is safe, but the heat drying process risks melting parts, and they are surprisingly expensive to replace for being plastic.

A child's plastic cup top melted on heating element. . .how to remove residue

Gently scrape with a razor blade or paint scraper to remove the large pieces, then use some emery paper or very fine sand paper to remove the rest. Use care when applying any pressure on the element, and try not to leave any gouges in the element surface. I have also had good luck with a nail file. Hope this helps you.
