The water is too cold coming out of the Moen Adler L82091 shower Head. I adjusted the internal gear and it makes nom difference in the water temp. Can the anti scald feature be removed so as to adjust the cold/hot water ratio.

Turn the cold water feed down as low as possible to maintain pressure and increase the temp on the water heater.

The anti scald is just a limiter on the rotation and you can remove this, if the water still doesn't get hot enough you need to replace the cartridge

SOURCE: My brand new Moen faucet gives almost no hot

If you soldered the valve together with the cartridge still inside you may have over heated the plastic and warped something. The balancing spool sounds like it is stuck.

SOURCE: We have a home that

Remove handle to gain acess to the temperature limit stop. Remove handle and pull out handle adapter kit and next there is a dail that can be adjusted to control the water to balance the temp. It could have been installed wrong, pay attention to where it is now and pull it back to it disengages out of the stem and move it counter clockwise a little and reinstall. Put handle on and test water for correct movement.

SOURCE: can you adjust hot to cold ratio on moen single

Pull off the handle and there are limiters located under it. They come set with not enough hot allowed, I have found. It is an anti scalding issue.

Temperature regulating faucet, aka anti-scald, are fast becomring a requirement under local building codes making it, technically speaking, a building code violation to alter the faucets function (assuming someone reported it the loccal buildings dept. That said the function of the anti-scald faucet cannot be altered. You should contact whomever installed the faucet to come back and adjust it so the temperature is more suited to your needs.

They make face plates to cover up removal of faucets in tile. They are chrome and will fit any 6" single handle faucet cover plate.

They are used to cover up tile for removal of 8" spread faucets so you have a little room to move if you have to cut valve out and replace.

Lowes started carrying them and a plumbing supply house should have them if not email me and I will try to get you a address to get one if this will help you out.

They are about $15- $20 for it. Lowes carry them in NC .

these valves can be adjusted by removing the handle and adjusting the white gear that regulates the hot and cold that come out, try going more to one way if it gets colder then go the other way.

Anti scald is not working. either too hot or too cold. can I adust the setting?

Yes you can adjust the setting on these things. They are a bit tricky, do you still have the owners manual? If not, you have to do trial and error, not a good thing to do in the shower. But, take off the cover, you will find 2 sets of gears, one move the internal thing while the handle moves the same amount, but the amount of water will change inside, the other adjusts the pressure, I think. You will have to open it up, take a look at where it is at, take notes, move one of the gears, and see what it does, check the temp of the water with your hand, and see if it changes, remember, you open the valve to the desired pressure but the temp is fixed to a certain range, , I hope this helps. One more thing, how does the temp of your water fluctuate from hot to cold? By this handle?
