Put tinfoil over your splice connectors and filters as they leak signals that totally confuse your modem. Never leave any bare wires, I tinfoil the entire modem to prevent the neighbors from hacking me. I don't use wireless, only CAT5 ethernet cable.
Good day. For your problem as suggest for you to contact at&t and ask for a modem replacement. It should not take an hour for your dsl light to turn solid green. A red light also indicates a problem on the modem itself. Better to get it now than to lose your connection permanently in the future. Hope this information help you a lot. Have a great day to you.
Your problem definitely sounds like an intermittent connection problem. It can either be one of two things. #1. You have a defective modem, or #2 It's a network problem. I will definitely go with #2. Here's the thing. The problem you have is very very very common not only to Verizon DSL customers, but also to other Internet Service Providers as well. The best way to fix the problem is to understand what's causing the problem. There are two types of intermittent connection problems. The first is Intermittent Sync. You'll know if you have this problem because the DSL light will be blinking everytime you get kicked out. That means there's no internet connection, The modem cannot detect and establish a connection with the Central Office. The second is Intermittent route (which I know is you're problem), The DSL light is steady, but the Internet light almost always turns OFF or turns RED. The only way to fix this problem is to coordinate with Verizon. The reason is because the problem is outside your house. The long cable lines, the drop wire, the cables that passes through from the Central Office to your House can all be damaged, If that's the case, then a technician is required to go out and fix the problem. Don't worry about calling Verizon, this is a network problem and you won't be charge for anything. I know losing internet connection is very frustrating. Give your ISP a chance, they will definitely fix the problem if you give them the opportunity to do so.
are any lights going off or flashing on mdm ? then call isp . . when was the last time you pwr cyc mdm AND router if it has been awhile try that turn both off for for 3 to 5 min turn mdm on first wait for dsl light wait 2 min turn router on wait 2 min try again if still have problems connect direct to mdm and if still doing it it isn't the router it is the internet connection or mdm
Whenever your dsl light on the 2wire modem turns red,it only means that there is a problem with the dsl connection to the modem. Here are some ways on how you can isolate the problem
1. check if your modem is properly connected to the phone jack by unplugging and replugging you phone cable 2. try to reboot the modem 3. if still getting the same lights, contact your ISP
If your DSL light goes off and comes back after sometime...then there is a possibility of issue with your Broadband service provider....there may be some outtage in your area.
In order to confirm check the phone status when there is an issue?
switch off and switch on the CPE ( some CPE has this issue)
