When I turn my ps3 on, there is no audio/video. I don't think it's a software update problem, as I was playing my ps3 about two/three hours ago. I turn it off at the back, chill for a couple seconds, then I turn it on at the front, holding my finger down, it beeps once for turning on, then there is one beep in the middle, then finally one beep and it turns off. No matter how many times I repeat this process, nothing works. After trying that several times, I'll turn it on at the front, not leaving my finger down, and it still doesn't display anything, nor does any sound work. I tried doing that, then once it was on at the back (still in standby at the front), I tried connecting a controller via a USB cable, and pressed the playstation button on my controller, still nothing happened.

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

Yellow light wont turn on

2 days ago i got the yellow light of death when the 2.50 update came out rendering my ps3 to a 500 dollar paperweight.
I contacted sony about my problem and my console is under warrenty so it would be fixed for free so it didn't bother me to awful bad
the are sending me a box right now but i have fixed the yellow lights on my ps3 myself and it works now without a hitch

then i took my hard drive and put it back in my ps3 and it ask me for the system software 2.50 disk so i downloaded the 2.50 update off of the ps3 website installed it and boom my ps3 work like new
this worked for me so far and have been playing my console for 6 hours now with out a hitch

My ps3 does not want to play blue ray dvd?

You'll have to update the system software for your PS3 for it to play blu-ray movies.

You can read about it here:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/2_60/video/aacs.html

On that page click on where it says "update the system software" and then on the next page it will explain the different ways you can upgrade the software.

Ps3 blows fuse at plug

Cocodinaro,

It sounds like you're using a damaged power strip; however, this issue can be caused by a bad outlet.

Replace the fuse and plug the unit into a different outlet. If the fuse blows, you need to go to a video game store an purchase a new power strip.

PS3 may have been doing an update of some kind and you have interrupted it and damaged the system software.
You might be able to download the system software and install it back back it will most likely wipe everything saved on your ps3.
Not sure how to do this as I have never turned off the power during an update ?
Found this site not sure if it will help
as it does not explain how to install the software onto a ps3
https://www.playstation.com/en-au/get-help/ps3-system-software/

but this you tube video explains how to do it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5OIZ73U7v0

Also you could have instead interrupted a need for speed update. It needs to update to play in network mode .
