This is due to a hardware failure, the scanner assembly and the formatter board will need to be replaced.
Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.
if this does not work contact hp 1800-334-5144 , if within 2 years from the purchase date ask for a case number to have the printer serviced under a service note.

when i change the mottor on top the scanner it stop the error but the photocopy is fading one corner which is still ok

Unfortunatly I have seen many HP units with Scanner Error 5 . This is usualy caused by a problem in the formatter (mainboard) or scanner assembly. There is nothing you can do to recover it. If the printer is still under warranty you will need to call HP ( 1 800 334 51 44) or take the printer to an athorized warranty depot in your area. This link will help.

I can tell for sure that the warranty for this specific model M2727nf will be extended 1 extra year (means you have 2 years coverage) if the printer has a scanner error 5. I Hope this can help ...

First, power the printer off, wait for about 30secs and power on. If problem persist replace the scanner.

The HP M2727 has a known issue with the scanner error 8 and bad formatters. HP has extended the warranties on this product. I suggest you contact them directly and they will most likely exchange the unit.
