WIFI dongles are very scewy anyway let alone one trying to use a third party operating system. I have never seen one that stated it was compatable with Linux so yes it prolly is a conflict with your operating system. That PC runs great with XP or Win7 buy an OEM CD off Newegg for about $99. All ur drivers are on Acers website. The only 1 u will need to load is the SD card the others are embedded in XP and Win7. If u use Win7 u may try the Vista driver 4 the SD card.

Hi i have a acer aspire 5741G that i sent away for repair and it came back saying on the sticker it has a graphics card but when i try to play the sims it says there is no graphics card.....i dont want to...

Let me just guess, you have 2 videocards, onboard, thoose are chips and not replacable. The Radeon Mobility HD5470 is a chip and is probably fried, then the intel onboard card takes over, asoon you try to play the game it switches to the Radeon Mobility HD5470, wich is broken.

You can reflow the chip but thats not recommended, you best buy a new laptop or bring it to the louis rossmanngroup, they might be able to reball the chip.
It has tin solder ball's under it, 1 or 2 might be cracked, so the chip wont work.

Reflow is possible, however it wil not work in 50 % of laptops.

Go to youtube and type reflow Radeon Mobility HD5470 on acer. AND DO NOT I REPEAT NOT PUT IT IN AN OVEN.
Because it will melt everything not only the vid chip.

My Acer Aspire 5742 developed a screaming high pitched buzz. This happens even when it is not connected to the net, or even when there is no dongle attached. This has developed since we used a Virgin...

High pitch buzz is usually caused by the system fan but can also be caused by the optical drive and the harddrive. check if the system is getting hot. try cleaning the vents of the system. verify that there is no disc inside the optical drive. try booting to safemode and check if the system will still caused the noise. also run a hardware diagnostic to check the fan and harddrive.

I have bought an Acer Aspire One netbook from a friend. I also have a 3 mobile dongle but I just cannot get the netbook to connect to the internet. I have tried to go on the Live Update tab but it keeps...

The Acer Aspire netbook I bought has a switch on it to connect to the WiFi Internet G. If you want to use the dongle to communicate on the Internet, then first try to use the built in Wifi to install the driver for it.

Acer Aspire 5570 black screen.

This problem occurs in most Acer laptops. Its actually a bug in the mother board. Try reinstalling the clock battery or give it to your nearest service center.

Aspire

To connect to a basic wireless network (WAN) you need to have a 802.11g (or n) network adapter, I would assume that this is located inside the laptop already (99% of new laptops come with a wireless adapter installed). You should not need a dongle.

Aspire 3000 laptop

Normally you setup a passkey or use 0000 or 9999 as a passkey.

The question is, does that pop up when you try to connect a USB device? Do you get that when you try to install the dongle? (That shouldn't happen). If you are trying to connect a PDA or cell phone, you setup the passkey for the connecting device on the computer then type it in to the PDA or mobile phone. If you are trying to connect a bluetooth headset, then you use whatever code is from the manufactorer. Normally this is 0000 or 9999.

Hope this helps!
