Mitsubishi WD-Y65 turns itself off right after being turned on

Mitsubishi rear projection DLP keeps turning off and shutting down. The red light then turns on for a while and then turns off. TV can be turned on again and works fine until a random shutdown occurs again. No fault codes are stored. No blink codes. No airflow warning messages. The original thermal sensor was replaced 8-1/2 years ago. Fans are completely clean and running smoothly. I fixed this problem by replacing the 8.5-year-old thermal sensor. The problem is gone. Mitsubishi thermal sensor part number 299P313010A. Manufacturer part number YS11A95B-C6. Do not use the connector plug. Strip the wires, and hard wire and solder the 2 connections. sound s like you have a bad color wheel
the wheel spins and then the lamp lights
the lamp could be bad as well

WD-Y65 is NOT a 3D ready TV. You either have to change the TV to see the movie in 3D, or just watch it in 2D in you current TV.

I have the same TV as yours. Current I connect a desktop PC to the TV via DVI port, and I watch Avatar using colorcode 3D(Amber/Blue) with Stereoscopic Player from www.3dtv.at It might be a way for you to enjoy 3D without change the whole thing, but it's an entire different topic.

Ur tv does nt support 3D. U can still see 3D if connected to PC. With power DVD 11 u can able to watch anaglyph 3D.
Dnt get confused any standard screen (e.g. CRT (big boxes with curved screen)) can view anglyphic 3D content.

Please check if the air flow is blocked." According to the Mitsubishi website, this issue is caused by a loose connection as a result of a faulty thermal sensor. For models: WD-73727, WD-73827, WD-73927, WD-73732, WD-7383, the most encountered repair problem has been in relation to the optical engine. Another common situation consumers have encountered is failure of the TV to turn on along with unceasing flashing of the green power light. The solution for this problem, caused by the DM board, will vary by repairman. Consumers have also encountered issues with moving vertical or horizontal lines appearing on the screen which can either be due to problems with the capacitor, light engine, or formatter board. Make sure all bad caps are changed.

Apparently there is a separate "reset" for the lamp..if u google your owners manual & download it (save it to ur computer!) you should be able to find it there..or you can always try doing a search on www.youtube.com to see if you can find a video to help...I have the same TV..I love it but apparently there is a bunch of common problems with the TV, and having to replace the lamp and or housing is truly a pain & expensive!!! If you google the TV with the model you can find alot of useful info about the issues this TV has!

sounds like you need a new bulb, mine is doing the same and the lamp light is coming on.

It sounds similiar to a problem we've had with ours, all components would work in hdmi 1, but hdmi 2 would only work intermitently. They ended up replacing the digital board (fortunately we have the extended warrenty, I'm sure it's not cheap). Sorry hope this helps.
