Turn the D32xd on, it then says fatal: powerOn error and asks if you want to initialize. That you cannot do, as it then says hard drive format error or something and powers down.

MR-8. How can I hard reset?

Generally, a hard reset is initiated by pressing a dedicated reset button, or holding a combination of buttons on some mobile devices. Devices may not have a dedicated Reset button, but have the user hold the power button to cut power, which the user can then turn the computer back on.

When my Korg d8 power is on 'working' message is followed by Init>?, I cannot go beyond this. How to solve this problem? And can I change the internal Hard drive.

It is asking for confirmation that you want to initialize the unit. The manual doesn't say anything about this... but you should try pressing the "Yes" button to confirm you want to initiallize the unit or press no if you want to staart without initializing.

What is fatal error

Did you POSSIBLY try to do a firmware update and crash during the process? If so, then the OS is probably fatally clobered and you will have to send unit to a place to do a factory RESTORE. You should try a factory RESET first however. Do these:

I have a old (but almost unused) Korg d1200 recorder. Recently started getting disc error messages. Followed manual instructions to check disc drive and still get same results. Powered it up just now to...

First thing would be to check the power supply voltages. It may be the disk drive is failing. Drives are inexpensive, might be worth a try with a new drive. Also check that cables to the drive have not been loosend by handling.

My Boss br-8 keeps saying medium error. It's not reading any disc. It ask me to initialize disc that already have music on them.

If the disk had music that was not CREATED on the BR-8 you will get the error. The format is incompatible with computer formats.

If the files were created on the same BR-8, then you probably have a disk drive failure.

Try initializing a blank disk. If it will not, then you have a drive failure.

Also is it possible you are trying to read a 250Mb disk on a 100Mb drive? That won't work either.

Each time I attempt to initialize a zip disk in my Roland BR8...

Probably the drive has gone bad as a first thought... this happens. Possibly the heads got dirty...

Make sure nobody has smoked tobacco around the unit as that is a killer for Zip drives.

Sometimes they have a second level of initializing/formatting. If the BR* has that, try it.

Boss BR 8...I insert the 100 mb disk, then asks to initialize..I enter 'yes' then it asks 'sure?' I enter yes then it says 'medium error' then ejects the disk..what's the problem?

If the disk had data put on with a PC you might try deleting all files and folders using the PC before formatting the disk in the BR8.

It is also possible that the media has gone bad.

A final try would be to degauss the disk and try to format on the BR8.

MY Boss br 1180 ,disk error

before you go out and buy a new hd try intializing your system.
unfortunaly you will lose all saved info, but you will either way. this test may save you some money.
with your 1180 in the off position press and hold the track 5 button below the fader and the redo/undo button that is just to the left of the rotarty knob and below the power button. while holding these two buttons press the power button and continue to hold the track 5 button and the undo redo buttons untill the test menu is showing. its takes about 15- 30 sec. in the test menu rotate the value knob till you see 23 initialize HDD and press ok. this process may take up to 30 mins. if this doesnt fixya then contact roland for a replacement.
