If the line is always in the same place running vertically down the label then it is either dirt on the printhead or a faulty printhead.
In that case the solutions would be to buy a cleaning card (See the very last item on this page of labelwriter labels) or buy a new labelwriter respectively.

is possible calibration issues. please run manual calibration,
go through the setings and run MEDIA and RIBBON CALIBRATION.
if ask to load labels,
open printhead, take 2-4 labels from the back papel and load the back paper normaly.
then press enter. Ask for REMOVE RIBBON? open printhead and move the ribbon from left to the rigth of the printhead (remove from the sensors(left and side)) press enter.
let the printer save that figers from the sensors (back paper/no ribbon)
LOAD MEDIA?
ok, put all back on normaly (labels and ribbon set up proply) press enter.
The printer going to run the calibration, if stop on the gap?! save (press twice on SETUP Button.
SAVED? OK. turn of and turn on again, send the job.

I have an answermate 62255 but mine is labeled Bell. Open
the casette compartment. There is a button labeled ogm. Hold
down until the unit beeps. Record your message and press stop
when finished. It will play your message back. Repeat until you
are satisfied

there are many possibility,
1. wrong ribbon installation , make sure there's nothing wrong, if need u may change the ribbon sensor
2. label not detected, change the label sensor
3. Printer need calibrate, turn off the printer, press and hold the feed button then turn on the printer after it flashes a red light , let go the button, it will do a manual calibrate, wait until it finished, it should be back to normal

It is not advisable to run labels in laser equipment without all of the labels on the sheet. The grey looking labels are due to a small amount of backround or build up put on all documents that run through a laser printing machine. Run it through once and you shouldn't be able to notice it, but run the same sheet through multiple times, and eventually you will be able to see the buildup, especially on thick paper such as label paper. What I would suggest is to pickup a cheap inkjet from walmart, and use it for only labels. They are more expensive to run, but with your low volume of useage you probably won't notice it. This will allow you to use labels 1 at a time, and if a label comes off in the printing process, it is much easier to find and remove then it is in a larger laser unit.

Merely reboot software and then roll unused labels back on machine. That works for me.

Located winder further away from printer. Set winder to lowest possible speed setting. Thoroughly cleaned printer to remove any trace of label residue near print head and label cutter (sticky labels with pre-cut patterns are being used). No more problems reported. Will continue to monitor.

I've had this problem several times and it seems that you need to push in the lock ring of the spool as far as you can tightly because if the end of each label is not seen by the sensors than it just keeps pushing the papaer out. Also make sure that there are no labels loose inside the machine that are covering the sensors.

If your not getting an error message I would suspect that the margins have somehow been set beyond the printable area. I don't know what the width on a "Military Shipping Label" is but I've had issues with Zebra label printers printing on the very edges of the labels.

Forward length matters in Label size detection. Width is just secondary. Length should be same for both. Else no, you have to had separate roll for each label size.

If the labels are same in length then there might be achance using Label Software that supports your printer.
